So nobody here can think clear about abusing the Xbox. It must be possible, it will work. Not as pro hosting or something like that but just like a test project.
Linux on the Xbox 1 so why not abuse Micro$oft xbox as a server :) |

Even better -> http://www.free60.org/wiki/Main_Page

I don't think it would be much uses as a web-server, but it's probably possible. I think however you would have a hard time getting a data center to mount one in their racks.. :1orglaugh
I've seen a few articles where people had linked together the older style X-boxes to make poor boys supper computers. I think it was Wired magazine had an article about scientist's actually playing around with linking 10-15 of the older X-boxes together. Of course you would have to get some sore of Linux OS or windows OS to boot on it first. http://www.llamma.com/xbox/beowulf.htm http://www2.cs.uh.edu/~bguillot/xbox/home.html using the play station http://www.xboxsolution.com/article810.html |
Seriously not a bad idea subway. Im not that much of a modding guy but i had this idea with the original xsbox.. its basicly a cheap computer.. fast.. with a HD and designed for heavy use.. so looks like a perfect webserver to me.

A GPU is COMPLETELY different than a CPU. So in short, XBOX360 would SUCK ASS as a server :2 cents: |
um. 733mhz celeron with 64mb of ram and a nice graphics card? i'm not sure what type of shit you'll be running on that other than maybe windows 3.1.

It can be done and probably will be done in the future but other then being a project for fun I don't see it having any practically uses.
