very creative email to snatch my cc number!!
Almost got me!!
Good afternoon, unfortunately some processings have been cracked by hackers, so a new secure code to protect your data has been introduced by Visa. You should check your card balance and in case of suspicious transactions immediately contact your card issuing bank. If you don't see any suspicious transactions, it doesn't mean that the card is not lost and cannot be used. Probably, your card issuers have not updated information yet. That is why we strongly recommend you to visit our website and update your profile, otherwise we cannot guarantee stolen money repayment. Thank you for your attention. Click here [links to www.visaeur.com/lostvisa/] and update your profile. |

Some people do fall for it. Anyone thats worked in tech support for more than a week has had to deal with one of those people who just gave away all of thier info and got thier acct abused...
|
Got about 10 of them today
|
Their site has been canned.

Yeah, same thing's going around with a domain scam, and since WhoIs is public it's easy to say:
Dear Godaddy Customer, Someone's been trying to log into your domain from poland, if that's not you..... It foold an otherwise intelligent, vigilant guy to go and enter his login information to a third party site. BTW, some of these sites - if there domain is innocuous sounding are getting SSL certs from verisign. |
My advise: setup a catch all adress for a domain and always use [email protected]. Got 4 of those visa mails today and know what sites/sponsors sold my emailadress to those scammers (or managed to get it stolen). Those sites and sponsors will never see 1 hit from me again.
|
Anyone with a basic grasp of the English language will not fall for that email. :2 cents:
