Why do people put some bits of their subject in CAPS
 

especially when it doesn't really have any special meaning to the thread

exactly, and people have an easier time seeing all caps as they're scrolling through the myriad of threads found on GFY - it's a good way to make your thread stand out

well unless everyone posts their threads in all caps, then you have to go lowercase to stand out :winkwink:
