Please point me to a basic user authentication script!

For the love of God, I just tried 6 different user authentication scripts and all of them fuck up in some way...good example, one was in french.

I just need a free script that someone can register as a member, and get access to a protected area. And an admin area where I can fuck with their info.

Anyone know where i can find this free.

Preferably MySQL database of their info.
