Would it be unethical to sell ad space on my baby?
I have a beautiful 8 month old baby, and I was thinking on selling ad space on him (on his cloths, stroller, even temporary non-toxic tattoos).
Would it be unethical? The money would go to his college fund. |
make sure you grab a 30% management fee
|
Hell no. Ad space is sold on everything else. As long as you don't tattoo him you're good to go.
|
Fantastic, I can just see it now. A baby covered in ads that say "My daddy didnt use a Trojan".
|
HOly shit :1orglaugh

as long as money goes to your kid then why not
PS - I have a gorgeous 3 year old mixed race girl with long dreadlocks ..anyone want space? lol |
I put it up on eBay. here is his picture... May be because I'm his mom, but I think that he is adorable :)

"Oh yeah, from the age of 8 months to 2 years you walked around with a huge fleshlight advertisement printed on your ass." I know what my reaction would be, it may or may not be ethical, but it would fucking piss me off if either of my parents had done that to me as a child. They'd have defaced a national treasure. |
Metallica tattoo in the forehead! lol... no, jk!
As long as you give him a normal childhood, it will be alright! |
I wouldn't sell anything permanent, illegal, offensive or adult in nature on a baby - but the rest could be fair game.
|
You're gonna spend a shitload supporting him/her, so why not get some of it back?
How much will spots go for, BTW? |

by the way, I went ahead and put it on eBay. Let's see what happens ;)
|
Wheres the auction link? I am inspired.

I don't care... it's true, no matter what the product, my baby will advertise it. As long as it is not ilegal, why not?
Notice that it doesn't say "no matter what the imagery"... even if it is a gagging site saying something like "My daddy made me watching a DVD from whatevergaggingsite.com", why not? |
|
I never would personally. Maybe if it was clothing or something that someone offered to pay my baby to wear.
I would also suggest being careful with the wording of your ebay ad.... |

You got fuckin issues |

it is clothing, or a sign on his stroller, or stuff like that. It's not like I will brand my kid.
Do I have issues? May be, but I wish my parents had done that for me, so that I didn't have to pay for college myself. Unfortunately, my parents didn't have issues :( |

Orgasmics: you have a point. No, I will not put something like that on him... So, let me go change the wording on ebay. BRB :)
|
How can the bidder ensure they are getting the proper exposure each day?
|
done! I changed the wording, now it reads:
"Open to non-baby related products as well... So get creative ;) " instead all products... is that better? |
I take him out to go to the park every day, plus shopping, to the supermarket, etc.
And if they want to sign a contract stating that he has to be out x amount of hours a day, why not? (as long as it is reasonable and it doesn't affect his eating or sleeping schedule)... He loves being out of the house, so he will have a blast. |

That still doesnt change anything. Just the simple fact you would consider useing your 8 month old baby to advertise a porn site is sick, disgusting and im sure illegal. |
nope, it is not illegal, as long as there are no adult images being displayed. It may not be ethical, but think about it this way: call it porn or call it sex, we wouldn't be here (and I don't mean on GFY, I mean on Earth) if it weren't for it.
So why is it so horrible? |
anyway, don't worry about it, most likely it is not porn what he will end up advertising, so why jump the gun so fast?
I will post here if anything comes out of it. Probably it will something like Target or something like that... |

As long as there's no harm done to him when doing that (which I don't think you would allow), then it's ok. :)
|
This is a bad idea for those associated in the porn business, I mean imagine if the press gets a hold of this?
|
before this goes any further, I think you should see a lawyer.
this can get you into alot of hotwater. if the over zealous child protection services people got wind of this they could take you to court and paint you as lunatic and you could lose coustody of your kid. |
What's wrong with good old-fashioned hard work and saving some of that money for the baby's college fund? You can easily save 20K for his college fund to hand over to him by the time he's 18. That's a little over 1K a year to save for him and if invested properly can easily yield much more than 20K.
I, personally would never sell ad space on my baby to pay for his/her college fund or for any other reason. I have 4 kids, with 2 in college right now and it's not easy but I manage. You have such a beautiful baby boy and eBay is ripe for creeps and pedo's so be verrrry careful with what you do there. Just posting his picture on eBay could get some wierdo's attention...I'm not judging you or trying to bash you but there are better alternative's for saving for college than exposing your baby this way. No matter what happens, I wish you the best of luck. You truly do have a beautiful baby! |
