It just occured to me. I built my first website in March 1996 (non adult)

When my grandfather worked for Shell oil they gave him a wall plak and a new little gold plate to put on it for every 10 years of service.

I want a wall plak goddamnit!

Asking for a "plaque" might help! ;)

You know, it makes me feel old, but I built my first web site in 1995 and got my first "web monkey" job in late 1996 ... time really flies when you're pounding keys

dbavaria 02-22-2006 09:51 PM

If you've been the webmaster of one site for 10 years, sure you deserve a plak...otherwise...its like any other job.

Also of all of you who claim to be longterm webmasters, has that been your profession, or passtime, "webmaster" or "programmer" is something a lot of people like to call themselves, even if it isn't their occupation.

I made my first two websites in April '96, but at that time I was an IT project manager (ironically, one of my last clients was Disney). I "retired" in October '96 and started full-time webmastering in November. I think that should qualify as long-term...

GTS Mark 02-22-2006 10:34 PM

Happy 10 year anniversary you old fart! Now back to work ;)

DH

MrPornCash 02-22-2006 10:53 PM

It must have been bloody amazing. Unless my memory is playing tricks, Geocities didn't offer homepages until mid-95 :)
