How does Epassporte stay in business?

I've never met a company that frustrates me more than Epassporte, and it's a shame because it's run by good people.

Needed to pay my balance for going to the Snow Gathering next month (nothing like waiting until the last minute, sigh).

Go into my Epassporte account and try to load some fundage. Oops, can only load $1000 at a time. Oh well, Maurice knows I'll get him the balance when I get back from Costa Rica. Load $1000 (minus the $55, ack!).. had a prevous balance of $4.75 so total balance is $949.75. Go to send those funds to Funix's Epassporte account. Oops, cannot send funds from personal Epassporte accounts to business accounts. WTF? Why not?

Great, so now I've got an Epassporte account loaded with money that I never use. And I can't pay the bill that's due.

Give them a ring on the phone (bonus points for answering quickly however). Discussed my options for either overriding the ban on transfering the funds (preferable) or reversing the charges and figuring something else out. CSR says neither option is available. Escalate it to a supervisor who tells me the same thing.

They do tell me that I can transfer the money from the Epassporte account to my checking account, but that I would still pay the $55 transfer fee, plus the cash advance charges from my credit card company. So basically I would be paying $1100 to transfer $949.75 to my checking account which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I tell them that I really don't want to do this, but I would have to call up my credit card company and tell them that the service did not perform as specified and I would reverse the charges. They tell me that's within my right.

So basically, they'd rather me charge back than to somehow figure out a way to pay the damn bill so EVERYONE is happy.

No offense Epassporte, but I've had to deal with these stupid fucking hoops every time I've tried to deal with your company. :-/

What's the reason that epassporte gave for not being able to transfer funds between business and personal accounts? Obviously it works from business->personal, so why not personal->business?

No idea why but it's never worked and is the most idiotic shit I've ever heard.

joefriday 02-21-2006 07:44 PM

You basicly answered you own question , of how they make money, they took $55.00 from you.

pornpf69 02-21-2006 07:49 PM

sorry to hear about that!!!

Something about how the accounts are funded and some fraud prevention. This has been addressed here before in some thread.

Bump for Eric - hope someone from ePass gets in touch with you and gets you taken care of :thumbsup

Only way personal accounts can pay to business accounts are thru the epPurchase system. This is how it ePassporte works.
I will find out the exact reason for why it is like this and post it here later today.
The only way money can be withdrawn are via the Electron card and for US card holders to their bank account.

absix 02-22-2006 05:24 AM

Same here, I can't pay my Platinum Feeds invoice because my account is personal and theirs - business. Crap!

JOKER 02-22-2006 05:29 AM

Easy solution:

Create a gift account for Maurice - this way he gets the $$ and can use it for whatever with the virtual Visa, or pay others by epass.

That at least would be an alternative solution.

:2 cents:

FredIsMe 02-22-2006 05:31 AM

epassporte will figure it all out one day.

TheMaster 02-22-2006 05:52 AM

Keyser Soze,
is it possible to raise the $320 redrawal from the Electron card?
with the dollar worth shit nowadays, it takes my 3 days to get my rent money of it :) (and I live in Czech Republic :) how many days would it take in more expensive countries :)

for the rest no complaints what so ever

The limits are raised based on 2 things, the type of account and your balance at the time you apply for a limit raise.

Please email or ICQ me your account name and I will make sure you are sent the limit increase form you need to fill out.

I think everyone in this thread basically echos the same thing - there are so many damn hoops to jump through to use Epassporte.

What I don't get is why they don't make it exactly like PayPal? I don't think I've ever had an issue with sending or receiving money - it was always painless. *sigh*

Fuck it, I'm on my way to Costa Rica.. it's a celebration bitches!

sfera 02-22-2006 07:57 AM

Lack of competition. No one's giving them a run for it. Yet.

seeric 02-22-2006 09:54 AM

fuck yeah! i didn't know you were going to costa rica Big E! NICE!!!!!!!

Thats sick!

Pornwolf 02-22-2006 09:57 AM

That's fucked up Big E. I hope you get it resolved. It's almost like legal robbery that's included in the fine print. Although it's in the fine print, it's still immoral.

If you do a chargeback Eric, you might piss them off and then they cancel your account. I hate to say it but it looks like your screwed whatever you do :Oh crap

eMail Chris Mallick and see if he can resolve this for you: [email protected]

milkit 02-22-2006 10:04 AM

i used my paypal debit card recently to get $400 out of an ATM.

it only gave me $220. The bank the ATM was at, rather than just looking at stuff and seeing it didn't give me enough money, or that the atm was over or something, told me to do an unauthorized transaction report with paypal.

fkn idiots.

Zprogramz 02-22-2006 10:17 AM

Businesses that only accept Paypal or Epass are cheesy IMO. Businesses can easily accept credit and online checks whter through their own merchant account or a third party processor so only offering psuedo payment methods makes it difficult for the purchaser.

(whew, Costa Rica was a blast..)

I don't really care if they cancel the account - I don't use it for anything.

jjjay 02-28-2006 07:00 PM

boo! down with epassport! boo!

baddog 02-28-2006 07:05 PM

charging 5% to fund your account is one way

AkiraSS 02-28-2006 07:08 PM

Epassporte is far more easier to use than paypal,
Paypal is more bloated than hotmail, not to mention they only deal with 25 countries, no adult and bunch of other gay shit

Grapesoda 02-28-2006 08:18 PM

the more I read about 'epassporte' here the more it sounds like Chinese algebra. . . I tried to join for 3 days once and gave up . . .

Judging by your English it must be because you live in a country not serviced by Paypal. Paypal is a lot easier than epass until they block you.

Pete-KT 02-28-2006 08:40 PM

Have him make a product sale page and you can purchase it with yr personal account

redsky 02-28-2006 09:03 PM

So far my experiences with epas have been difficult, time consuming, and expensive. Not as bad as yours... but a pain in the ass!

Chris 02-28-2006 09:07 PM
