I was there!

Played at the Palms, lost 400, then went to Caesar's and won 750. Hooked up with the poker room manager girl and a few of her friends and we all went to Harrah's to play friendly poker at our own table. We couldn't valet because the popo had it cordoned off and there were people sleeping all over the floor in the casino area, but it was business as usual other than the no valet thing.

As far as the casino staying open, if you think about it, if the casino closed it's doors for a couple of hours while they took care of the situation, they would've lost THOUSANDS of dollars, so as long as the excitement was many floors up in the hotel and they had SWAT up there to take care of it, I would've kept my doors open also :)

Evidently the dude shot and killed a tourist from Reno and then ducked into a hotel room and started shooting at or out the door when the police arrived. After 7 hours they finally shot a flash bang through the window and grabbed him without incindent.

Haven't guns & gambling always been synonmous throughout history?
