If you loved the GUBA skin, you'll get to see more of it in March

Ohh I feel naked...

Our apologies for any misunderstandings. The skin was deployed a wee bit too early. Eric and I talked and we're relaunching the skin in March. We're not taking the skin down becuase there are a few noisy haters. I want to make that VERY clear.

The REAL launch of the skin will have promotions, launch a second payout option, reveal the relaunch of GUBA, announce exciting partnrships, and more!

Stay tuned, friends. There are lots of exciting bells and whistles on the way from GUBA.com!

StuartD 02-20-2006 06:01 PM

sea cig! :glugglug

Kimo 02-20-2006 06:02 PM

does it include the removal of stolen content?

seeric 02-20-2006 06:02 PM

:O interesting.

Quagmire 02-20-2006 06:02 PM

Guba sucks rotting whale cocks.

When will it be down? When will it run in March? I'll schedule a vacation for that period.

Ok the skin is coming down and there is another reason besides the heat.
Sure thing, I can not say what is true actually. I just hope someone changes their minds before then.

Thanks for belittling the opinions from those of us who experience loss of livelihood due to the activities of guba.

Define "few"

More like a "few hundred" ... but seriously, spin it any way you want, this was a BAD idea from the feedback GFY and Guba are getting here today.

I doubt it will it be any different in March, no matter how exciting you make the promotion.

Brujah 02-20-2006 06:12 PM

That should give you time to remove the Paris Hilton video content, the Lightspeed galleries, and actively remove content you KNOW is infringing on the copyrights, correct? Since GUBA has been around such a long time, there's no way they don't recognize names like Jordan Capri and Tawnee Stone and Raven Riley, etc.. is there?

It would be so easy to block queries, and you know fully well what you're doing.

Libertine 02-20-2006 06:13 PM

This thread made me laugh out loud.

lesbodojo 02-20-2006 06:14 PM

People who see their content on GUBA should make note of those links and email them to me. We have an image recognition software in place to permanently ban stolen conent. A lot of the people who bitch on boards don't do this. They'd rather slander than be proactive.

I would also highly suggest watermarking your content if you're a content producer. ...cause if they're on USENET, then it's on many other sites (other than ours). If you have watermarked content, you'll get free traffic back from people who dig it.

Bullshit. By posting content you have no rights to, you are stealing. Saying "If you don't want us to steal from you, let us know" is the world upside down.

Lebodojo, glad to see you here. I'm looking forward to the relaunch and the new goodies.

Meanwhile, here's what I've been saying in all the hater threads, just because I enjoy being a contrarian, and because I despise ignorant libels:

Somebody's got to speak up for GUBA, since nobody here seems to understand it. I guess I'm a good somebody to speak up, since GUBA sends me a huge check every two weeks.

Long story short: Don't believe all these folks who slam GUBA. The "stolen content" rap is total bullshit; in the niches I promote, the *vast* majority of the content in the newsgroups is actually put there by the content owners to drive traffic to their websites.

Remember, GUBA is just a friendly interface to the paleolithic part of the internet. Usenet newsgroups, the uncensorable built-to-survive-nuclear-war part. GUBA sells no content and thus is in no position to steal any. It's just an easy way to get at the newsgroups for folks who aren't techie wizards.

I've had dinner with GUBA's head lawyer, and I'll tell you what: they have the legal shit covered. There's nothing illegal in what they are doing; if there were, some of the rich loudmouths here on GFY would have already sued them back to the stone age.

Now for the good part: As an affiliate, GUBA is simply awesome to deal with. GUBA has been very very good to me. Their recurring billings are particularly sweet -- they recur at much higher percentages than anything else I've ever promoted. As for service, they are always johnny-on-the-spot for me by email or phone whenever I have a question or issue.

Quality folks to deal with, great conversions, and the best rebills I've ever encountered. What's not to like?

My advice: Ignore the haters, and give GUBA a try.

Be proactive? It's YOUR CONTENT HARVESTER! Why should GFY members go through all the trouble of reporting cases of stolen content to you? Delete them yourself!

Ok you suggest we watermark which is good.

Now since we must patrol for our content can site owners get free memberships?

If I'm a content owner I'd half to be spending half my time tracking down stolen content all over the web. Seriously, your argument here is a cop-out - like Napster saying that music companies should monitor their service and report wrong-doers.

YOU should be the ones monitoring since it's YOUR service.

And you can, the technology is not difficult. But instead you put the onus back on the content owners to police the entire Internet as well as your program?

Very weak.

You actually can browse our site for free...just can't download for free. If you see an image or video clip that is yours feel free to contact me with the link. I'll take it down asap. We also have a flagging system that you could use, if you didn't want to take the time to email. And really, if a content owner wants to work with GUBA to take down any unauthorized content...I'll gladly give them a un/pw. I've said this for a long time. Nobody takes me up on it.

Tat2Jr 02-20-2006 06:31 PM

So since you want us to police your service ourselves..... where do we write for a free username/password?

who the fuck are you? why are people being called haters that spend thousands of dollars on content to be given away by others that are selling memberships to it? fuck some of you are dense on this board. so steve lightspeed should not "hate" on you for having tons of his content in there? content that probably cost him tens of thousands of dollars to produce? get a clue.

Of course I pasted that in from another thread, I'm pasting it into every thread I can find that repeats the tired old canards about GUBA. All this foaming from the haters who don't understand what GUBA does and don't know the law well enough to know that their moaning about "theft" just makes them look stupid -- I'm not willing to let that go unanswered.

And as for my ref code, what are you, a communist? I'm proud to be a GUBA affiliate, why shouldn't I include my ref code? I think it enhances my credibility, not detracts from it.

There are lots of GUBA affiliates on this board who are (apparently) too scared of the mob to speak up today. I'm not one of them.
