Why I'm leaving GFY (and why you should also)
 

I can't understand how a company like Playboy/Adult.com that spends hundreds of thousands of dollars per year fighting copyright infringement and content thiefs would allow a company like guba to advertise on the most heavily trafficked webmaster board on the net.

The bottom line is always the bottom line....all the bitching and moaning in the world isn't going to make a bit of difference. (Actually the more bitch threads you start the more you're helping them)
If you REALLY want to protest then stop posting here and stop reading the threads and giving this company the ad views.

Action and page views are what makes GFY successful....when those numbers drop is when they'll sit up and take notice that "we" (the people who make this board what it is in the first place) are not happy with what the owners are doing.

I for one will not sit idly by while GFY tries to get webmasters to promote a program that ultimately takes money out of all of our pockets, and you shouldn't either.

I'm outta here.....someone shoot me an email if/when GFY decides to cut ties with the thieves they let skin the board.

Ok, I think the standard GFY skin just go back..

i'll never promote it. and i will do my best to make sure that my content is not there and notify those that i know if i find theirs in there. its all i can do to keep my stuff out of the newsgroups and torrents, what a battle.

Wait until the skin comes back in March, and then a no-visit week if enough people do it will send a message.

i guess you should also boycott most isp's , seeing as alot of isp newsgroups carry those groups

I have no problem with any source that displays newsgroups or posts on newsgroups as long as they do not edit or remove the text used to market the site. If Guba or anyone else just extracts the images and sells access they are not the same thing. We use newsgroups to market not to give away free content.

I'm sure you will return because you won't be able to find an active, so active board like GFY. :)

I heard that the skin was taken down the same day it was put up, but I also heard that the Guba says the skin is coming back in March.

wait i could have swore they tore down the guba skin 10 minutes after it was put up.... hrmmm...

I love GFY. And they got rid of that skin, so that's all water under the bridge.
