Is it legal to...
Run a website about a porn star, and have their name in the domain name, and have the site filled of galleries and free videos of this porn star with the primary idea that people will sign up under your ref id to her main website?

Why wouldn't it be? I could only see a problem if the star had her name trademarked and she was anal about it.

Yeah that's basically my main question, if her name is copyrighted and they don't want it in the domain name, even though the site is dedicated to her and making her more $... due to more signups :o

You may want to consult the program you're promoting about that, but from what you say it seems legal because you're still promoting him/her and they are recieving sales -

I think I'd pursue your plan and wait for the cease and disist letter to come from her lawyers. You can worry about it then. And then, you'd be out the cost of the domain and a design but maybe made a boatload inbetween.
