GUBA = Content thiefs [drama]
Apparently they take all the images from usenet and post them on their site. In turn they charge their customers $14.95 a month to look at the pics and movies that they downloaded from newsgroups.
Needless to say they are violating copyright's left and right. I've seen plenty of pay site stuff in the newsgroups and logically it only makes sense that those very same pictures are in their "members" area. Does the other programs accept this? Enlighten me. |
its common knowledge what is on usenet. just another one of those things. if you find your shit on there, they will take it down for you and ban the user if they repeat offend.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.....

usenet is usenet - but selling access to stripped usenet content is coming remarkably close to "reselling content without a license".
It should also be noted that there is no way to prove all the models are over 18, so there is potential to be redistributing CP. Not a good business model. Alex |
guba, sell memberships so your surfers can view stolen pics whoohoo
|
GUBA are a bunch of thieves and should be shut down and not allowed to make money off of our paid for copyrighted images.
GUBA = POFS (for those that don't know, Piece Of Fucking Shits) |

So alas it would be perfectly ok if I ran an affiliate site and members site where users collected and submitted usernames and passwords, or if I had a script that scoured usenet and search engines for such login info. Then require the offended site owners to buy an ongoing membership to my site to keep track of what is posted in case they desired to ask me to remove ones that are theirs?

I see it as an offence to all other programs when GUBA is even allowed to advertise here.

This is nicely referred to as the dumptruck full of cash backing up to the door. Most people can't hear the complaints over the beeping sound that truck makes.

Then I'm gonna open a whole chain of movie theaters and show the movies to the public for 1/2 price. What is the diff? |

I am astounded they have the balls to advertise here, of all places. We all work very hard trying to make money on good, quality, original content. These guys are a legitimate threat to our income. Plus, as RawAlex said, the potential for CP is considerable. Guba should keep APIC and ASACP busy! Matt |
what's next? An Imagecash GFY skin?
fck guba. |

Somebody's got to speak up for GUBA, since there seems to be a lot of hatred and misunderstanding going on. I guess I'm a good somebody to speak up, since GUBA sends me a huge check every two weeks.
Long story short: Don't believe all these folks who slam GUBA. The "stolen content" rap is total bullshit; in the niches I promote, the *vast* majority of the content in the newsgroups is actually put there by the content owners to drive traffic to their websites. Remember, GUBA is just a friendly interface to the paleolithic part of the internet. Usenet newsgroups, the uncensorable built-to-survive-nuclear-war part. GUBA sells no content and thus is in no position to steal any. It's just an easy way to get at the newsgroups for folks who aren't techie wizards. I've had dinner with GUBA's head lawyer, and I'll tell you what: they have the legal shit covered. There's nothing illegal in what they are doing; if there were, some of the rich loudmouths here on GFY would have already sued them back to the stone age. Now for the good part: As an affiliate, GUBA is simply awesome to deal with. GUBA has been very very good to me. Their recurring billings are particularly sweet -- they recur at much higher percentages than anything else I've ever promoted. As for service, they are always johnny-on-the-spot for me by email or phone whenever I have a question or issue. Quality folks to deal with, great conversions, and the best rebills I've ever encountered. What's not to like? My advice: Ignore the haters, and give GUBA a try. |
So where's all the complaints about Easynews, Giganews, and all the other major usenet providers?
Guba isn't selling content, they're selling access to usenet via a web interface instead of a newreaders one would usually use. You can get the same thing for $10/month with Easynews, web interface, seach engine, and all. If you find someone posting your copyrighted material then you should be sending complaining to their ISP/NSP to have their account terminated. Calling Guba a content theif is the same as blaiming Verison, Road Runner, and other isp's for for copywrited stuff shared via p2p and torrents. Service providers just provide a service, it's up to the subscriber to use it responsibly. I'm sure quit a few dim-witted fucks will flame me but ohwell:321GFY |

That's your best response? To call me a faggot? :1orglaugh You people are dense |
I am not going to spend $14.95 find out but do they strip all the URLs, links etc out of the posts and just display images? If they do then they are not like any other news server or newsstream they are just content thieves.

So there's no problem if I head over to GUBA, download the shit there, upload it to my sites and charge people to access it?
Sweeeeet :thumbsup |
