Should I be friends with my ex?

We broke up last June after two years. I kept complete radio silence. No contact for six months, than two months ago I dropped by her place to return her passport and tell her I'm moving to the US (from Israel).

She just wrote me asking if we can be friends...

The way I see it:

upside: We know each other pretty well, and it'd be nice to have another person to talk to since it's kind of lonely here in the US for me.

downside: It might make it harder for me or her to move on. Especially if we end up having sex when I go visit Israel.

What do you think?

Yeah, stay friends. You can't even have a relationship with her when you're in the US and she's in Israel. So, 'friends' is just going to mean the occasional phone call.

I'm best friends with my ex-husband. It definitely has it's perks-especially since we have two kids together. Just don't lead her on if she gets to wanting more. I have to watch that with my ex b/c he still wants me back, so I have to be very careful not to lead him to believe I want the same thing

I say no. Move on with your life and forget about her. Maybe she just wants to be friends so she can come to the US to. Shes a woman, who knows what her real motive may be.

Its much different when kids are involved.

easier if you just let her go and forget about her otherwise your always gonna have that thought on your mind of you and her being together at some point in time in the future..

No. Drop her and move on.

Never maintain a friendship with an ex. It always leads to trouble and jealousy.

All depends...i'll have no problem having my ex as a friend but that's because i'm so over it...if you still have feelings then don't even try it it won't work.

Hmm, am I overanalyzing the situation? What's wrong with the typical male response:

"hmm, commitment free sex when I visit Israel. Sign me up!"

You can be friends I guess. An occassional phone call would do but make sure it won't get beyond that.

you should be... don't let your "special relationship" be erased just for that. just remember that you were once happy with her.
