Anyway, for home use go with cloudmark...velly cheap and good.

At the Server level, I have used SpamAssasin which is free and pretty good if you tune it right.

At the workstation level I use a terrific free product called spampal found at spampal.org. It checks email against real time block list AND uses a REGEX filter for pattern matching. Has great automatic and manual whitelisting features. About 95%+ accurate for me. A few things get through...a few end up in spam folder.

Wishing massive fines and prison time to spammers and those to support them... and that include guilty sponsors and webhosts on this board.

You don't have to be a scumbag and lowlife to promote porn, although honest webmasters are a minority. Many have sold out their ethics a long time ago, and Spam is just part of the problem..

Is that also one of the best, or does it suck compared to spamassasin for example?

Spamassassin, but is not 100%, I use to redirect mail to gmail account also for better protection.

Cloudmark works best for me. I get around 5,000 + emails per day of which 99% are spam. Very very few false positives for me with Cloudmark and not much gets through.

the best anti spam at the server level is the mail server, I use Merak mail server http://www.merak-mail.com/
you can pretty much stop all spam if you want.

I used to use the spamhaus database but stopped, they have a bad habit of blacklisting huge blocks of IP's, even ones that have nothing to do with spamming. missed to many emails because they blocked people who were not spamming

Please note SpamPal uses about a dozen RBLs.. including Spamhaus and SpamCop. You can select which ones you want to use.
