What are the "Must See" shows in Las Vegas ?

I'm heading to Vegas in March for the first time ever, with the wifey, my bro, and his wife and I was just wondering what are the shows that are worth seeing. I was thinking about "V - The Ultimate Variety Show" or "Cirque Du Soleil", but I have no idea what's good or not.

Any recommendations ???

Robatolla 02-18-2006 10:22 PM

O at Bellagio good a bit long though, cirque is good, heard mixed reviews of KA at MGM.

T - Bone 02-18-2006 10:23 PM

"O" for sure

Amazing!!!

Robatolla 02-18-2006 10:23 PM

Zumanity is great for the open minded, O and Mystere are excellent. Ka is great if you are high. The Fashionistas show is interesting and relatively cheap. I think they have like two for one show tickets. To be honest, alot of Vegas shows are cheesy, but depending on what you are looking for, you can find some great ones. If you are looking for things to do other than shows, hit us up on ICQ, we have lived here for 12 years...

My favorite show is hanging around the Circle Bar at the Venetian every year at the beginning of January. I like to watch the real life comedy of an area full of porn stars and hookers and the CES guys that can't fuck either during the AVN show. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Slick 02-18-2006 10:46 PM

Thanks for the tips people, I appreciate it. It looks like I'll be going to see O for sure. I was wondering is that better than Mystere ??

Trashymedia, thanks for the offer to hit ya up. We're gonna be there for 6 nights, so we'll more than likely hit up 2-3 shows (depending) and do the usual day stuff like go on ATV or horseback rides, do up Hoover Dam, and perhaps the Grand Canyon. Anything else worthwhile ??

I've never done the tours cause I hate that shit, but I've lived in Vegas and I've had many a friends and relatives come visit who have done it and hated it. And some of these people are travelers who live and die for that shit.

Thanks, I'll consider not doing that then. I was thinking about that, how exciting can a dam tour be with everything else to do out there, but I'll see what the rest of the crew thinks.

Here's something you'll never forget and they're a must see on a first trip to vegas:

- Take copter ride to the Grand Canyon
- Hit all the roller coasters at the hotels in Vegas
- See all the outside shows like Treasure Island etc..
- Hit the seafood buffet at the Rio at 4 PM !
- Go to the nascar track and ride 160 MPH

I really enjoyed the Auto Collection at Imperial Palace and think its well worth an hour of your time.

Dwreck 02-19-2006 12:54 AM

Being a closet rockstar drummer, Matis from Rabbitsreview.com offered me free tickets to check out BLue Man Group this past Internext. I was entertaing some freinds/clients and I didnt want to leave them. When I told this the opportinuty came up they are told me I was stupid if i didnt go. I have always wanted to go and they do have a version here in Toronto but I told myself if im going to really Experince it I would want to see it in Vegas.

I was BLOWNED AWAY! Total sesory overload. I loved it and have the dvd playing now!

So thanks again Mantis!!

Mind you i have never been to a Vegas show before which I can't belive in the 8 times I have been down so I can't really compare it too. But I loved Blue man Group. The drumming was so tribal! :pimp :pimp

DaddyHalbucks 02-19-2006 01:08 AM

I have seen many Las Vegas shows.

The best one was the BLUE MAN GROUP --by far.

bopha 02-19-2006 01:16 AM

La Femme at the MGM grand is AWESOME

Slick 02-19-2006 10:21 AM

Slick 02-19-2006 10:24 AM

What would you say is the BEST Cirque Du Soleil show to see of the 3 ??

PamiebDVD 02-19-2006 10:34 AM

"O" is an amazing show for Cirque.
Beacher's Madhouse, at Hard Rock, is supposed to be great fun-haven't been there myself because it's been off schedule when I was in town.
The BEST shows in town are really sitting down at one of the hotel bars and people watching!

Scott McD 02-19-2006 10:38 AM

I loved the David Copperfield show at the MGM a year or two ago !! :thumbsup

trashymedia 02-19-2006 12:09 PM

Other things to do

The center bar at the Hard Rock is great for people watching, Ghost Bar at the Palms has alot of beautiful people as well. Mix at the Mandalay Bay has a phenomenal view of the city. Voodoo Lounge at the Rio is also great and a bit cheaper. If you smoke, the Hookah Lounge has a very exotic feel to it, great Mediterranean food as well. If you like dive bars, the Double Down is teh place to be (Try the Ass Juice). If you like house music, the Beauty Bar downtown has a nice crowd and the drinks are not that expensive. Alot of people wil recommend Pure at Caesar's Palace, but honestly the place fucking sucks. They try to rape you for bottle service (around 300.00+ per bottle). Krave has a gay crowd, but great dance music. If you like Burlesque shows, Forty Deuce has a cool vibe that starts around 10 PM. If you need more, let us know...
Jeff and Raven

PS, the dam is not that great. You can take the tours, but it's a bit of a bore...

xNetworx 02-19-2006 02:03 PM

I've never found any worth $100+ per ticket :2 cents:

TreasureBucks 02-19-2006 03:45 PM

http://www.coastergallery.com/2005/HighRoller5.jpg
do this first, cuz its a kids ride after you go on the big shot.

if your not into the scary stuff.....

this was very cool.....

3d Imax screen, wrap around screen....wraps around the sides and overhead... kind of feels like youve been put into the screen. On top of all that, the seats move with the movie. Closest thing to virtual reality ive experienced. highly recommend eating a "burger" before going.

LauraLee 02-19-2006 03:48 PM

Trust me... the 2 best shows are
'O'
'KA'

enjoy!

Jennyfer 02-19-2006 04:20 PM

The "V" show was fun but i'm sure the O is way better.

amandaspost 02-19-2006 04:37 PM

O at Bellagio was awesome!

Peaches 02-19-2006 04:49 PM

I've only seen three (and ridden the rides at the Stratosphere):

O
KA
Blue Man Group

They are all SO different but all great. Read up on the interweb and see what piques your interest the most :)

Nathan 02-20-2006 08:00 AM

"O" at the Bellagio is the best I've seen yet, AMAIZING show.
A friend of mine just saw "Le Rhahaha234;ve" at the Wynn. Its by the same guy that also wrote the O show, but its NOT Cirque de Soleil that makes it. He said it was very very good too.
The small parts of Rhahaha234;ve I saw on tv while in vegas looked awesome. So next time I'm definately going to see that one, but I'd go and see O again any time.

seeric 02-20-2006 08:09 AM

they have shows in vegas? :1orglaugh

and whoever made the PURE nightclub comment. you're right it sucks. the crowd sucks, the vibe sucks, the people there are pretentious fucks, security are a bunch of assholes and drinks are way overpriced.

it takes alot for me to not like a club.

trashymedia 02-20-2006 09:49 AM

We gave Pure a few chances

We even got "special" invites during lifestyle parties (swinger stuff), went to the club, had to stand in line and argue with security that we were on the list (which we were). No one would help you, you get upstairs to find out your booth is already full of other people and in essence has been given away. Pay too much for a drink and God forbid you try to drink it, security comes by and tells you to move or they will 86 you. Fuck Pure, the vibe sucks, my wife nearly kicked some chick's ass (which would have made our night), and the club is wayyyyy overrated. Ghost Bar gets crowded, but you don't have the drama. The Voodoo Cafe also has really good food if you guys are looking for a place with a great view of the city, then you can walk up one flight of stairs and party on the roof. The have hot chicks dancing around there now as they are catering to a younger crowd again....

Ka is the best of the bunch, IMHO.

Slick 02-20-2006 02:20 PM

Well, I just went ahead and ordered some O tickets, I have section 102 row G, they're in the seat 16, so I'm hoping that those are good seats.

This will be our first time to Vegas, is there anything that we should know about Vegas, like with theft, what to avoid doing.

Vegas is safe, we have a million cops, tons of security, and fucking cameras EVERYWHERE! If you stay on the strip or in any of the hotels, you will be fine. Stay away from anything north of the Wynn hotel (meaning don't walk in that area). If you want to see the Sahara or Circus Circus (no reason to go), take a cab. If you are coming on the weekend, tell the cab driver to avoid the strip if at all possible. Most hotels have back entrances that are easily accessible from side streets that are not too crowded. If you go downtown, take a cab, it is surrounded by a ghetto shithole that they have been trying to clean up for decades now. Tip dealers, waiters, cocktails waitresses, doormen, and bellmen. You will get better service, as they all depend on their tips to survive. The hookers usually come out after midnight, and you can always find them at the bars and various lounges in some of the major casinos. Use the safe in the hotel room, as maids have been known to steal. If you like your maid, tip her as well, as you will normally get the same girl over the length of your stay, and she may afford you some extra amenities or try not to steal your stuff, which either way for a 5.00 tip is cheap insurance. Most of the free shows are atrocious, but fun if you are really drunk. If you like the nightlife, Drais and Emporer Ballroom are good places to see, and if you in town on Monday, The Foundation Room lets commoners like us in for a nominal charge, rather than the 10,000.00 or so a year you have to spend to become a member. If you are losing at the tables or machines, leave, you probably will not get your money back. Take a walk on the strip between the MGM and the Venetian, the view is great, you get to see the best part of the city, and you can catch the fountains at the Bellagio. It is a very long walk though, the hotels are alot farther apart than they look...
Have fun!

Wow, thanks for all of the great information, I greatly appreciate it.

We're gonna be staying at the Treasure Island. I wanted to go bigger, but my brother and his wife don't want to spend the extra money on The Venetian, so we settled for Treasure Island.

The Heron 02-20-2006 05:44 PM

Blue Man Group.

Peaches 02-20-2006 05:48 PM

Vegas is VERY safe. I've walked around by myself and with other females and never worried. Just stay in the crowds and you'll be fine :)

You MIGHT be offered one or a million porn flyers, hehehe...

trashymedia 02-20-2006 05:53 PM

The Venetian is overrated. Treasure island has the free pirate show (with hot wet chicks), and Tangerine, which is a burlesque club (you might like that). You mainly use your room to shower, sleep and fuck. Beyond that you guys will be all over the rest of the city....

chowda 02-20-2006 05:57 PM

actually, if its a short trip, ull be staying on the strip
