In the beginning, R_N created...
In the beginning, R_n created the internet and he saw that it was good
for deceptive billing practices so on the first day he created pre-checked hidden cross sells and made cancels almost impossible... So on the second day he realized that he did not have any more merchant banks that he was not blacklisted on and he realized he would need partners that could get merchant accounts so he invented partners... The third day he made the FTC in order to help regulate his works and the works of others and the FTC decreed that R_n could do whatever he wanted as long as he admitted he would not do any more deceptive billing practices and would disclose his prior judgements against him to any future partners... The fourth day, R_n realized that he would need to diversify to hedge his exposure to litigation and he created programs like Porndollar and decided to move his businesses offshore... When the fifth day came, R_n saw that there was business opportunities so he created Acacia and settled with them because he was so smart and all-knowing about business... The sixth day inspired R_n to invent a company to go after copyright infringers so he went after Vivid only to realize the genius of his plan revealed that Vivid was not infringing copyrights. Lo, he decided to reroute Homegrown Video traffic to Amateur Bitch until Homegrown found out and demanded an audit so R_n summoned the immensity of his wrath and forced them into expensive arbitration to punish them for their sins... On the seventh day, R_n looked upon his works and realized the internet was only fun when he could say that he was responsible for every successful site ever and it was not so fun if there were tons of new programs blowing his away so he "retired" to become a consultant and counted on his faithful minions like Alien, Jason, and Matrix to spread the news of his works. |

In fall fairness, Ron was doing what every other single pornographer at that time was doing. "Back in the day" it was quite standard to pull pics off newgroups and post them inside member's areas. It was also standard to rebill as much as possible.
Ron can be tough to deal with and he and I have had our disagreements (actually just disagreement, singlular, and it was worked out years ago) but in working around, with and for Ron for almost 13 years, I have to give credit where credit it due. He's smart, he watches trends, and he knows when to pass things off to those who know more about something that he does. Is he a God, internet or otherwise? Certainly not. But I do believe he's worked hard and long enough to deserve respect w/in the industry. Plus, the battles between Ron and Serge are legendary - boards probably wouldn't be as popular as they are now w/o those two ;) |
