Kid Killed In Boot Camp Beat Down Video?
 

Anyone see a video of a kid at a boot camp like facility that got a beat down so bad he died?

I saw a brief clip on the news but not much more. His parents were on tv but I didn't catch the whole story.

Why it took damn near 10 deputies and a nurse and they piled on this 14 year old kid! It's hard to say if he was beaten before the vid started but there were clear hits and grapples taking place. He looked like he weighed at most 130lbs. Coroner said he died from complications of Sickle Cell Trait. It'll be interesting to see where this goes.

This happened in the town I live in, and this is the first time I have seen the video. I hate to say it, but I don't see the alleged "beat down".

The kid was in there for stealing cars, and was out of control. What I saw was the deputies trying to restrain a kid. As they were trying to get him out of the yard, pay attention as the kid tries to head butt the deputy behind him. Stupid move.

What really upsets me are all the black hate-mongers that have come out because of this. Even a representative of the black community called it a hate-crime "solely because the victim was black." That's bullshit. Where the fuck was the NAACP when this hoodlum was stealing cars?

These fuckers live only to TRY to start a racial war between blacks and whites. Yes, it's a shame the kid died. But he could have also went to jail instead and got killed by a fellow inmate. The parents had the choice of jail or bootcamp.

And it wasn't until the autopsy that they discovered the kid had sickle cell. His parents didn't even know.

Again, it's a shame the kid died, but to have the hate mongers shouting it was racial is complete bullshit.

Also, sickle cell trait is tricky. It normally doesn't cause a problem unless certain things come into alignment. Could be the heat or exhaustion from exercise, atmospheric pressure, any number of things. At 14 it's unfathomable that no one detected his condition. Newborns since the early 70's are tested for diseases like Sickle Cell and Coolie's diseases. He should have been tested for that the day he entered into the criminal justice system. They are required to perform physical exams especially where minors are concerned.

So for some strange reason no one knew he had Sickle Cell trait? I don't think so. I think they all knew but didn't expect any problems because the trait doesn't cause problems unless certain criteria are met. Just like Coolie's disease.

A 14 year old kid as dangerous to 9 or 10 deputies? I don't think so. Not him. I know of some 14 year olds that it would take 10 deputies to take down but those 14 year olds are like 6'4" and weigh over 200lbs. Something's not right here and it looks like a combination of bizarre things that will take a while for people to figure out and take responsibility for. We don't know how much if at all a beating the kid took before the camera started rolling so it's gonna be the testimony of the deputies and inmates.

Hopefully it wasn't police brutality but a case of something happening no one could have prepared for.

As far as the sick cell goes, the kid played basketball in school and would have to have to pull himself from the games due to fatigue. Now, as a parent, for the number of times this kid would pull himself out of a game, I would have had it looked into.

As far as the parents go, I don't know them. But knowing that your kid has a problem and NOT checking it out is child neglect at the least. Perhaps the NAACP shouldd be questioning why the parents weren't more poractive concerning their child's health and whereabouts they screaming racism.

The problem I have with this story is that it has been slated as a hate crime against a BLACK kid. And the black community is who is spurring this on. That is what gets me steamed about this story.

Bottom line is, if the kid had Sickle Cell and it's the cause of his death then it should have been detected by his thorough medical exam when he entered the criminal justice system. Bottom-fucking-line. He's a minor, his medical condition prior and during incarceration is mandatory. What if he had some allergy or heart malfunction etc.? It goes to ask the bigger question as to how they fucked up missing something like Sickle Cell when it's clearly one of the easiest tests to do with just a finger prick and a high school microscope.

He shouldn't have been on that field exercising with that condition in the first place. That ALONE is negligence and incompetence on part of the sheriff's dept. whether the parents knew he had it or not.

That's the lawsuit. Not the supposed beat down which we don't see on the vid.

It's possible for a 14 year old to not know he has sickle cell. My girlfriend's daughther has a boyfriend who was just diagnosed and he's 19. And he was only diagnosed because he is in the marines and they were doing a medical check up on him. Of course he's not black which is where most sickle cell cases are from, but you don't have to be black to get it.

Gator, you don't 'get' Sickle Cell. It's a genetic disease which is only a disease outside of the Congo regions where malaria is thriving. Actually, Sickle Cell is a defense mechanism against malaria. Problem is when the people move outside of the environment where having Sickle Cell is a benefit, it becomes a detriment. Coolies disease and other similar diseases are the same thing but different names.

As you noted, it didn't get noticed until he had an exam. That's my point with this kid. If the coroner said it was complications from Sickle Cell trait, not anemia, just the trait, then the Sherrif's dept. is FUCKED. Why? Because they were by law supposed to give this minor a thorough exam and after that, detecting Sickle Cell trait or anemia, they were NOT supposed to put him under certain stresses. So either way whether they beat him to death or it was Sickle Cell, the coroner fucked them all in the long run. He would have been better off saying they beat him even if it was a lie.

Endangering a minor, negligence, indifference, etc. etc. bottom line is a minor died in police custody due to a genetic disorder that went undiagnosed or underestimated
by those in charge of him.

IIRC, something like this happened when one of those daytime talkshows had one of those tough love episodes, you know, where parents bring thier crazy kids to the show and turn them over to a boot camp and the drill instructors come out onto the stage and yell at them and stuff? Well, supposedly some kid got killed in one of those, died from lack of water or something and then it was exposed that the "boot camp" was really owned by some guy who simply pinned a rank on himself and started playing army basically.

Really, a disgrace. People ought to be ashamed...
