Hustlers Laurel Hertz is in a Triathalon for Leukemia and Lymphoma research
I got a note today that Laurel Hertz is participating in a Triathalon or two to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's fight against Leukemia, Hodgkin's Disease, Lymphoma, and Myeloma. These are horrible diseases that strike all age groups, economic levels and races of our community. Many breakthroughs have happened, but a lot of research and testing is still required to finally put an end to these blood related cancers...
Please check out Laurel's webpage, read about the dedication of the Team In Training participants and if you can, please make a donation... http://www.active.com/donate/tntgla/tntglaLHertz On behalf of all of us that have, or have had one of the above diseases, we really appreciate this type of support.. |
Go Laurel go...!!! Donating now.
|
Laurel is very dedicated. I think she injured herself last year while training for this event if memory serves.
|
:thumbsup What an awesome thing for her to do! :thumbsup
|
Shemp - Thanks for posting this for me, I truly appreciate it. You rock!:thumbsup
BobG - I'm doing two Triathlons, the Wildflower and the one in San Diego. So, maybe we can hook up before or after. Or if you're really bored you can hangout by the sidelines and throw water at me. lol Baddog - Yup, I was training for the Alaska marathon 2 years ago. I was able to train up to 18 miles and then my knees were killing me. So, I had to scale it back and only participate in the half marathon which was 13 miles. So, this is why I'm focusing on the triathlon instead. It's just a little easier on my body and I want to keep up w/ JMK (who's usually in the top 5 placements, woot woot) and my nephew who's been training very hard too. Orgasmics - Thanks for the vote of confidence. Btw, your signature peaked my interest. Let's chat when you have a free moment. |
Whohooo! Go Laurel, go!
|
Awesome Laurel. I'm glad that there was a thread started about this. Rock on!

Sherrie - Thanks for the love and the support. Will I see you in Phoenix? You have to come out and celebrate my b-day again. Sleazy - I just got the itinerary, can't wait to see you and JMan! Hmm..Do you think I'll be able to find a good place to run or swim? |

looks like you are on the upper end of the gfy fitness scale Here is a daily journal of my training. Monday 1/31/06 - Kickboxing and Weight Training. Tuesday 2/1/06 - Wow..first day of Feb. and my first official day of training for TNT. - Kickboxing and 30 minutes swimming...This is the day where I felt like I was going to drown. Wednesday 2/2/06 - Ah..40 minutes of running! yippie..Sam and I had a great time, but I think it's time for me to change my music on my ipod. Thursday 2/3/06 - First day of swim practice. We swam for about an hour, I learned a few cool drills that helped and I felt more confident than I did on Tuesday. Friday - 2/3/06 Today should be a day of rest, but I may try a new kickboxing class.. We'll see. =) K, I sucked and just relaxed that day. I didn't leave the office until 7:30. Sat 2/4 - Met w/ the team at the Agoura bike shop and then ran a few laps at the HighSchool. |

Hey Everyone! I'm heading off to the gym, so I've got to keep this pretty short. I wanted to thank everyone on this board and everyone else who have helped donated too! However, I wanted to give you a little information about TNT.
Members of Team In Training have raised over $76 million, for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in its fight against leukemia, Hodgkin's Disease, lymphoma, and myeloma. An estimated 114,530 Americans are diagnosed with one of these blood-related cancers every year, and every week 1,100 of them die. Leukemia is the number one killing disease in children, and it affects 10 times as many adults. Can?t we just say FU*K Cancer and beat this? 75% of my pledged amount of $3400 goes directly to research. Donations are tax deductible. Please join in the race for a cure by visiting my website, http://www.active.com/donate/tntgla/tntglaLHertz Remember ??. Every bit helps bring us closer to the finish line, and we'll get there with your help. :helpme |

Laurel,
I had no idea you were doing this. It's easy to give money, but actually getting out there to train and do the work takes real dedication. I'm proud to have you on our team and support you 100%! Having said that...I'm going to take care of the easy part ;) WebQuest will throw in 10k and we'll match all other donations up to 25k. Hit Bruce up for the check...lol. Kick some ass Laurel! |
What you are doing and have done is so great Laurel! As an advanced cancer patient/survivor myself I thank you. We need all the help we can get to fight these diseases.

Ok...I posted last week that I am taking donations for a cancer walk...but a triathalon? Your kicking my ass here :thumbsup
My family has many cancer survivors and we've also lost many loved ones. I support your cause whole-heartedly. I made a donation to your page...it wasn't as much as I would like, but really all I could do right now. You should do well here, I'm glad Shemp started this thread...wish I had so many friends here! Good Luck!!!! |
Im posting because Im amazed Laurel, I can't belive it! I mean what a thing to try to set out and do! WOW
Hats down to you. I got your email however its on my office computer and will see it monday! Bottom Line...... Thats awesome Laurel! |
Laurel you're an inspiration! :thumbsup
|
Wow you guys...I am completely speechless. I am truly overwhelmed by everyone's support, generosity and enthusiasm. I especially want to thank Shemp for putting this post up for me because I was a little gun shy about doing it. I
A huge thanks to Ken for contributing such a hefty donation. I was so excited about this that I called my mentor to let her know about your generosity. I've asked her to see if we can work out some type of corporate sponsorship. She'll look into it, then get back to me. There are a few people that really surprised me because they helped me 2 years ago w/my fundraising when I was training for the marathon too. Many thanks go out to you because I wasn't expecting you to donate twice! A special thanks also goes out to a few people that have donated and I don't even know them. I hope to meet you in person real soon to give you my utmost gratitude. I also want to express my heartfelt appreciation for people who shared personal stories about their loved ones that were victims and/or survivors. I'm so sorry that some of you have felt the tragedy of losing a dear loved one. I personally had never know anyone that had cancer until the last year. From this thread it's easily apparent that you are the ones that have true strength. It takes an immense amount of courage for people to fight the unknown. I hope that we will be able to find a cure in the very near future. Thanks again to you all for the bumps, best wishes and donations. Laurel |
Nah, Laurel -- all you need to do is WIN for us, girl -- that's all -- :thumbsup
|
I have no problem making a donation to a cause like this. :thumbsup
|
RAISE the bar, Laurel -- :thumbsup
