Why is it spam if they are trying to buy a name off you?

I get lots of spam in my inbox, but I haven't seen that one.

i got a domain inquiry from the same company today, not sure if its spam though, can be a legit offer as well

yes, ive got a few of those, including one today to buy shempland.com
i noticed the sender was using a yahoo email, though

Make sure that those domains are locked.

I get tons and tons of those... always different names on them, but they all track back to about the same place.

Wow, nice attempt to harvesting emails, I never figured that. I did get a few today as well.

Yep they win either way:

* You reply --> you get a ton of spam
* You dont reply (and your domain is unlocked) --> bye bye domain name

The e-mails are alledgely from some weasle looking for incorrect e-mails on domain registrations. Next they try to take your domain and have apparently gotten many via this technique.

Heard the guy is in Russia who's behind the scheme.

I think it's just someone looking for domains to buy and is casting quite a wide net.
