That ad is stupid. Shouldn't advertising be about the product, not just some fancy silly marketing dickhead's idea for something they think is 'funny and witty'..?

Who gives a shit about your funny and witty story? I'd like to know something about the product. Typical unintelligent advertising...

please no, there are plenty of boring commercials as it is. it's a rare to see nice perls in advertising which actually do catch an eye for a few instances.
metaphors and abstacts play a good role in getting the idea out about the product, it sticks more in your memory ;)

commecrial are not always about the product although they may seem that way, its a way for companies to stay in touch with their audience, clients and potencial buyers. give the remindes. if you followed their commecrials also IBM they never talk about their products in adds, just mention product names or services, showing some "unrelated" images, yets those two are very successful in their branding.

When people are talking about a (TV) commercial that they found funny, but in general can't remember for what product it was, then the commercial wasn't good.

I think for an Internet ad this commercial could be pretty good. People will pass it on :)

Exactly. Viral marketing. The fact that we are discussing it at all is proof of its effectiveness.
