if your using this as buying decision you would be better off going to demo
the camera or rent one? then you will have a dv tape sample you can
take into different editors and see if your happy with the format and the encoding

mkx 02-16-2006 10:50 AM

Good idea indeed. Is it safe to compare the HDR-HC1 to the HDR-FX1?

mkx 02-16-2006 02:00 PM

got the hc1 to try, how do i get rid of those matrix style phases for items in motion?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 02-16-2006 02:38 PM

I shot with the SONY yesterday, its a good cam, kinda to big though is my only complaint.

Footage is great, it handles well and holds upto SONY's promis on the product. Its natural integration with Vegas is sweet as well. Its 1080i format disturbs me. I prefer Progressive even at 720P over 1080i. But I think the difference is just a matter of preference for the frame "look".

i definitely agree with you on that. 720p footage looks hella good. 1080i has this harsh video look to it (cinematone settings help a little bit, but it's still interlaced video).

I have both the JVC HD100U and a Sony Z1U. I shoot JVC/720p for music videos and short movies. Then i use Z1U to experiment for web stuff because it's more rugged and Auto Focus is your best friend when shooting gonzo style porn :)

about FX1, i think brookeskye.com is shooting with it (judging by the audio quality). audio is just horrible with the FX1, that's why Z1U might be a better choice for long term... uno

I am still deciding over the VX2100 / VX2000 or the HD. I am new to video shooting so rather learn the thing of the future than the thing of the past. I am doing a bit of shooting now with the HC1, it seems like a nice camera but I don't notice anything amazing. I would like to be able to shoot for web but have the DVD potential. If there is a way to process the video from the HDR-FX1 and make it pretty simular to the VX2000/VX2100, I do not mind spending the extra money to get more options.

AlienQ, how does the size of the FX1 compare to the VX2000 or VX2100?

well the HC1 is still a consumer camera. have you seen footage shot with the A1U?

Nah never really heard of it. Prefer something less rare so accessories / maintanence won't be a lot. The FX1 is a cross between commercial and professional no?

Nydahl 02-16-2006 04:05 PM

we use this cam for content production - unfortunately - its a piece of shit

oh ok, yah i wasn't noticing to much difference between the $2000 HC1 and my $500 Canon except a bit sharper videos.

I think i am going to just go for the FX1 and maybe a vx2000 as a second cam since they are cheap now a days

jonesy 02-16-2006 07:03 PM

dude ive seen you posting here about this all day, looking for examples - dont waste time on that shit, everyone shoots/edits/renders shit different - rent a cam see for yourself

do some research on the shit you wanna buy

http://www.sonyhdvinfo.com/article.p...1E,-and-HVR-Z1

http://www.camcorderinfo.com/

AND MOST IMPORTANT - what your going to use it for?

these are pretty much what everyones using

sony HVR Z1U, Sony HDR-FX1 , Panasonic DVX1000 , canon XL1 XL2

all quality and youll get excellent results using any of these

if you want more of a film look without having "HD" go with the canon and the panasonic - again pro cameras everyone uses.

you want the HD shit go with the sony

the sony's have differences though in HD - read up on them then decide

that is incorrect:

the HC1 is a cmos sensor, the FX1 is a 3chip ccd

I already read many reviews. I just wanted to see some examples in the adult industry because I know tons of companies that shoot with the vx2000 but barely any with the FX1. I know everyone has there own preference but I was just looking for opinions from industry people rather than facts and opinions in general. I think I have enough info right now to make a good descision.

:thumbsup

also read what guys in mainstream - pros ect - have to say about them too. i cant find a link i had to a huge mainstream article but just do a google search on those models it should come up.

if you have the money buy the z1 instead of the fx1 - it just makes sense, compare em and youll see.
