He was illegally hunting at a lobbyists ranch. A lobbyist that secured $5.2 Billion in Iraq contracts. He shoot a man that may die. He didn't notify police until he found out that the ranch owner reported the shooting to a local news paper.

my point isn't necessarily regarding the hunting incident. i'm talking about in general. republican or democrat, it doesn't matter. whoever is president will be the brunt of 100 late-night jokes every night etc etc the list goes on. i just think most of it is a little over the top...

But I find it amusing that you refer to shooting someone with a shotgun and nearly killing him a "mistake".

What you dismissively refer to as "all that other bullshit" - are the things that put him "under a microscope". As vice-president, he is part of the leadership hierarchy...and thus should be held accountable by a different set of standards. The best form of leadership ideally leads by example.
