Anyone heard of "Supermicro" (highend server)
'Supermicro' is the server im getting later today. Most people in the US dont even know what it is (i didnt, lol).
http://www.supermicro.com/products/s...-6014P-32R.cfm <-- check it out, they are better than Xeons. |
Umm supermicro is not really a high end server, and every host knows supermicro. Most use their servers to host on, i have a bunch but i prefer using ibm servers, less headaches
|
welcome to the interweb
|
O? We will see how it goes with it - i bet they are better than xeons. :thumbsup

how can a xeon be better than a xeon?

I use a ton of Supermicro servers. It's not exactly high end but it is pretty reliable.

What are they, blades?
|
We bought a ton of Supermicros when I was a sysadmin, mostly because they were cheap.
|
They are nice, especially for the price. I still love Dell tho(and so does isprime)
|
Man i though Supermicro was really good, guess not. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh
Need to cut down on the weed. :Oh crap |
Dear Newbie,
Supermicro manufactures servers. Most every datacenter in the USA is filled with them. Yes they make servers with Xeon's in them too. |
I thought they just made motherboards that were over priced compared to Abit/Asus/Tyan/Gigabyte
They were supposed to be really good when we had p2/p3 servers. |
Nothing high end about supermicros. They are what I direct clients to who are too cheap to spring for a low end Dell server. Of course saying that I have no complaints about their quality. Haven't had a problem with one.

Xeon 64bit 3.0 GHz with 4Gb DDR Ram.
Hardware raid and 2x74Gb 10,000rpm raptor drives. ^ Im getting two of these now, forget Supermicro. :disgust |
|
Supermicro... I will leave left unsaid... what i will say is duel opteron over duel xeon any day :)
|
I dig the super micros as good medium end server, reliable, good parts but not high end
|
I heard that dual amd bet dual xeon in almost every kind of task
