A girl I used to date is getting married . . .

A girl I used to date is getting married. We are still, and always be very good friends. Yesterday she asked me if I would read a Bible passage at her wedding. Of course I was honored and said yes. Now I am trying to decide what verse to read.

I was thinking Psalm 23: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.

Anyone have any better suggestions?

Corinthian 13 seems the common concensus.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
If I speak in the tongues of men and angels,
but have not love,
I have become sounding brass or a tinkling symbol.

And if I have prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains,
but have not love, I am nothing.

And if I dole out all my goods, and
if I deliver my body that I may boast
but have not love, nothing I am profited.

Love is long suffering,
love is kind,
it is not jealous,
love does not boast,
it is not inflated.

It is not discourteous,
it is not selfish,
it is not irritable,
it does not enumerate the evil.
It does not rejoice over the wrong, but rejoices in the truth

It covers all things,
it has faith for all things,
it hopes in all things,
it endures in all things.

Love never falls in ruins;
but whether prophecies, they will be abolished; or
tongues, they will cease; or
knowledge, it will be superseded.

For we know in part and we prophecy in part.

But when the perfect comes, the imperfect will be superseded.

When I was an infant,
I spoke as an infant,
I reckoned as an infant;

when I became [an adult],
I abolished the things of the infant.

For now we see through a mirror in an enigma, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know as also I was fully known.

But now remains
faith, hope, love,

these three;

but the greatest of these is love.

I think we may have a winner. I can see the tears flowing already.

baddog -- :2 cents: -- don't limit your search with a "wedding quotes from the "bible type search engine. you will wind up repeating the same words as 6,000 other quote-readers on that same Saturday. Be original. Do the hard work. Find something for this woman's special day that's as special as she deserves -- :)

She will thank you for the rest of her days. Even if she gets a divorce, she will always remember the "Extraordinary Biblical Quotation" offered by brother baddog -- :)

And as long as you aren't writing it everyone will understand what he says. :winkwink:

here's my contribution:

I John 4:16-19 God loves us. If we live in love, it serves as a sign that God lives in us. We are capable of love only because God loved us first.

Ya,
Read John 11:35
"Jesus Wept"
Shortest verse in the bible.

Jesus will be weeping when you are running around at the reception getting close to all the chicks trying to get pictures with them to post them on a porno message board.
