Playboy profit falls 68% since last year

http://today.reuters.com/investing/F...YBOY-EARNS.xml

Last year: 43 cents per share
This year: 14 cents per share

Pipecrew 02-14-2006 11:26 AM

scary stuff!

stev0 02-14-2006 11:29 AM

That's the profit, at least the shareholders aren't loosing money...

I'm surprized they're still in business actually, magazines are so 1980. At least they've finally jumped into the online game, although they were at little late.

Gottis 02-14-2006 11:31 AM

One thing's for sure, we'll be seeing an increasing number of branded gfy skins. :D

maybe that's why they cracked down on sigs..think about it, if the threads are filled with sigs, who's going to put their ads at the top where no one is looking? at least now the banner stands out.

sfera 02-14-2006 11:35 AM

well if stock goes down you can get it cheaper

thaifan99 02-14-2006 11:37 AM

are you really surprised?

Relish XXX 02-14-2006 11:38 AM

Stock price has no real relation to the value of a company it is just what someone is willing to pay for it. Personally I think at that share price Playboy becomes a very attractive buy.

pornolized 02-14-2006 11:39 AM

The online playboycash stuff sucks... They make it so hard to promote their content, actually for the most part the whole adult.com affiliate program is aged. They need to invest in a much better tech staff me thinks.

TheSenator 02-14-2006 11:41 AM

I would promote Playboyhahaha174; but they make it so hard to use their content.

are really this stupid?

woj 02-14-2006 11:49 AM

That's probably exactly why they bought adult.com...

FreeHugeMovies 02-14-2006 12:03 PM

Hasn't companies like Playboy and Hustler etc etc sales have been on a downward spiral for a while now?

Donny 02-14-2006 12:07 PM

You do realize they spent millions buying Lensman out, right? You do know spending money takes away from profits, right?

je_rome 02-15-2006 08:01 PM

it is expected of any business that profits decrease some time. there is a time for boom and a time for recession.

3M TA3 said, and I quote "maybe that's why they cracked down on sigs..think about it, if the threads are filled with sigs, who's going to put their ads at the top where no one is looking? at least now the banner stands out."

I predict this site will be shutdown by the end of the year, or dumped from Playboy and made it's own again. :2 cents:

Jim Cramer said on "Mad Money" about a month ago that Playboy is one of the worst maganged companies he has ever seen and he is done with them and to sell the stock.

buddyjuf 02-16-2006 01:10 AM

Hefner said higher paper prices, a postal rate increase, and weak newsstand sales for almost every category of magazine have plagued earnings in the publishing industry.

WTF???? could this possibly be true?

Eric 02-16-2006 01:22 AM

I can't wait to bring this thread back up in about 6 months.

baycouples 02-16-2006 01:27 AM

Finally people are getting tired of dumb looking blondes, fake tits and air brushing.

Plus, who the fuck buys magazines anymore?
