are you a player or listener, and what do you like to play/listen to?

I'm not into pure Jazz but i'm more of pop-jazz. some of my favorite artist are george benson and the swing out sisters.

i like jazz, they got a nice jazz station in the bay area i check out sometimes...

definitely. anything from brubeck to miles davis.

Im a Max Roach fan...

T. Monk, Coletrane, Coleman, Davis, Parker...anything for the most part of Blue Note or Prestige...all the usual suspects.

I'm in to more of the big band sound, so definitely check out the Mingus Big Band, especially their double-disc "Que Viva Mingus." They play every Thursday at the Fez in NYC and I'd definitely check them out if you're in the area.

Can't go wrong with the classics like Davis (Bitches Brew), Monk or Charlie Parker either.

I like progressive contemporary jazz - also like smooth jazz. Check out www.SmoothJazz.com - I play that station a lot :thumbsup

hey ive seen the mingus big band... that show was a lot of fun.. they are back in my area again too...

My taste's all over the place depending on my mood but currently listening to a playlist of... Koko Taylor, Big Mama Thornton, BB King, Etta James, Miles Davis, Buddy Guy and Nina Simone.. and others who sound like them. :thumbsup

Dave Brubeck Quartet (Paul Desmond's sound is the best), Herbie Hancock (Not the funk/pop stuff though), Miles Davis if I'm in the mood for some out there crazy genius stuff, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday
