the shared plans at http://www.dreamhost.com/ look pretty good starting at $7.95 a month with 20gb storage, 1tb of bandwidth, free domain and much more.

has anyone had any experiences with these guys before? please post your comments.

eMonk 02-12-2006 02:57 PM

I would most definitely make the switch if you're on webair. Lunarpages has been great to me. I've been with them for a little over half a year now and only experienced about an hour of downtime throughout it all, their customer service is lightning fast and solves your problems just as fast, and the features you get are more than you would need. :2 cents:

stickyfingerz 02-12-2006 03:05 PM

Well whichever. I have a promo code that gets you the same thing lunar has for a year for the price of their plan for a month. :2 cents:

So giving him a code you made that "saves him money" won't make you commission?? Comon man, I know their tools.

Trax 02-12-2006 03:09 PM

wanted to use their subdomain for SE spamming, signed up, paid for a year and got my account closed within a week before I was able to put up any pages because they assumed I was gonna use it for SE spamming lol
seems it was popular back then hehe

Lmao I didnt make the code. It was a PROMO code. Promotional code. Whatever. Not gonna argue about it. This is silly.

Doctor Dre 02-12-2006 03:47 PM

I have ... for a non adult site thought. Over a year now without any major problem.

You can use promo code adultwebmaster to save yourself some money ;)

Antonio 02-12-2006 03:48 PM

you'll get $97 discount

I used it yesterday - signed up for one year and paid only 23 bucks

Well didnt want to spread that one around, but now that you have. lol

Yup 23.40 for a full year. 1TB transfer per month, and 20GB storage, and it includes a free domain name if you want one through them. Also you roll over some of your monthly transfer bandwidth each week. Think its 8gb a week rolls over. But hey we are only sharing to make that mad commission cash. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh Who would think someone trying to help a guy out, just out of the goodness of their hearts. lol

https://dreamhost.com/signup/?next_step=Index 12 months for 119.00 comes out to 23.40 after promotional code. Bet this deal is gone fast now. lol

marko13 02-12-2006 03:52 PM

nope.... sorry

Actually Dr Dre made a thread in the "sell and buy" section of GFY, also the promo code has been mentioned in at least 10 other threads, so it wasn't such a big secret to begin with ;)

But I'm happy to make $10 000 from the people that I refer, I hope you're making good money too, of course this is GFY and 10 000 bucks is like pocket change to us, but hey you can't have it all :winkwink:

eMonk 02-12-2006 04:54 PM

dreamhost.com allows their users to create custom codes that kick back part of the referral fee to the current customer and discount part to the new customer.

there are many promo codes available. i'm looking at 25+ right now. :)

pornpf69 02-12-2006 05:19 PM

I only heard good things about dream host....

AdultNex 02-12-2006 08:48 PM

Service is good, but the features suck.

You can't even run certain PHP scripts, because they ban the usage of some call functions.

Matt 26z 02-12-2006 09:32 PM

Standard DreamHost warning.... They do not bill based on bandwidth. They only look at your CPU usage, so forget about running many kinds of scripts there.

Theo 02-12-2006 10:03 PM

for what you'll pay its better than most hosts, but again dont try to build your empire on it :)

eMonk 02-12-2006 10:40 PM

i knew there was a misleading catch somewhere... :winkwink: :thumbsup

Khun 02-13-2006 02:04 PM

Well any shared host that tells you that you can run whatever you want and use as much cpu/memory/mysq memory is not going to be a very good host to begin with. You get what you pay for.

I dont know of a shared solution out there that can handle a popular TGP or MGP due to the resources needed. Sure, hosts can offer 1 or 2 TB of bandwidth but the fact is that if all their users are loading the crap out of the server, it isnt going to stay up for long.
