A widescreen video player is the talk of the Apple blogosphere.

SAN FRANCISCO (Business 2.0) - Apple rumor site Think Secret is reporting that a new video iPod is in the works, with a screen that covers the entire face of the device and a virtual click-wheel that only appears when a user touches the screen. The design resembles a recent patent for a tablet computer Apple filed. Apple (Research) may announce the new product on April 1, which marks the 30th anniversary of the company's founding.

ipods as they are, need some seriuos protection from any type of abrasive service, including your finger.

i love my ipod..... my new one. the last one got so scratched up, in a few days, i took the shit back and they gave me a new one. Infact alot of people were briging them back for the same thing. My wife paid extra, where they replace it on the spot if its faulty.

Anyones, the new one got a skin for it right away. The skin still doesnt protect the screen or clickwheel, but I wont carry it my pocket next time either.

its called a psp, and i heard you can even play games on it.
takes a cf card.....

however, if it had super massive storage....like 100 to 200 gb...a cf slot, less scratchable surface, play games on it, get satelite tv and radio, make phone calls via wireless headpeice, email, intant messaging, super long battery life, and a car stereo deck that you can just plug the face on, and it will charge it, and of course play through your car stereo without having to buy a direct connection box or the "fm transmitters" that dont work very well.

Ok, apple, please steal my idea, becuase i would like on those gadgets.

too bad psp is 5x as big as the ipod... ipod = pocket size take anywhere device, psp is not even close...

Battery life is always going to be the big problem for a device with that big a screen. Will be interesting to see the size.

My bride got me a 60gb video Ipod for Xmas.
I love the storage - don't need to take my laptop with me anymore. Just transfer sites / mysql database dumps to the Ipod and load them on my work desktop. It syncs with Outlook. Stores my contacts as vcards. I can even store text files on it for quick reference.

However, Itunes sucks ass; I hate how it organizes my mp3s. And even with my case, lined with very soft material, the fucker somehow still gets scratches. And in regard to watching video on it -- battery life is "maybe" two hours. Plus the scratch issue.

Before I even think of upgrading, the new Ipods better have some solid scratch protection, otherwise it's a glorified portable hard-drive.

For all of you that are complaining about scratches, why don't you put on an Invisible Shield?

When I saw that I was getting scratches on mine, I bought one and put it on right away. It's perfect and better grip too, not as slippery.

They got it right the first time when they were making them bigger in memory while smaller in size.

I reccomemend not putting the ipod in your pocket, unless its got a 100% protective sheild on it, to keep it from getting scratched.

I think the psp is sized just right. any smaller and hitting the gaming buttons would be like writing a novel on your blackberry. :1orglaugh

My video ipod fits in my pocket just fine. Only thing is, its gets scratched up when it goes in there.

its an april fools joke. those are just mock ups random people have been photoshoping since last summer. if you do a search on it, you'll see that its just a rumor that has been around since the summer and those drawing are from some site that has like 50-60 other mac mockup images that random people submit.
