Popular domain names

some question about domain names

some domain names - long and ugly can be sold fast

and sometimes good name cannt

strange :)

for example - i'm selling SEXREC.COM

but no one offer for 2 days

why?

arg 02-10-2006 08:15 AM

Because nobody has a sexrec fetish. Nobody goes to their computer to buy a sexrec, or rubs one out thinking "man, I want to see some more sexrec!" It's short, but it's meaningless.

wrong...

a domain name can be worth a lot to someone, and worth nothing to another person. if i like the domain i would pay for it. i may find a domain that i find unique but others may think its garbage. but i will still pay money for it. remember, a domain may be crap. but developed. its worth lots. but if you are just going to register a domain and sell it 1 day later. you are wasting your time.

"Records" is not commonly abbreviated in American English. "Videos" and "pictures" are, so sexpics.com or sexvids.com are valuable.

I don't know what you mean by "sex records," but any meaning I can think of is not a common interest.

Absolutely, but you are very unlikely to find any really good domains available.

~Ray 02-10-2006 08:51 AM

Created: 08-feb-2006 there is a reason you were able to register it 2 days ago

I see the idiot filter needs changing

Why don't you tell us why you think its worth something and how much you planned on selling it for. Sex records doesn't mean anything and if the domain was available two days ago then that should tell you something about its value.

this domain contants sex+3 letters
rec - it's usually used for recording or records (maybe in US it's rare)
i think this domain costs around 100-150$

Pepsi is just another 5 letter word if it weren't for the billions of dollars that went into making it what it is today.

arg is THE BIGGEST domain expert on this board so you should just re-read what he said till you understand that this domain isnt neccesarly a good one :upsidedow

There are more successful domain pros than me on GFY (most are pretty quiet here), but that's some basic advice.

Profy, you sound like US English might not be your native language. If that's true, it's going to be harder for you to judge English domain names. A native speaker can tell that a domain like "sexrec.com" just sounds awkward, and will get no type-in traffic. More visual or technical areas of the adult internet industry may be easier for you to master.

sexrec i dont think is worth anything at all.

i would buy it if it was unique. meaning it meant something i could use.

but the domain doesnt even make sense.

yes, there seems to be a lot of winners in this thread. While they are here I should offer some more helpfull info to them.

Do not run a generator in your house, even if you open the window still don't do it.

hoeblog.com
hoesblog.com
largeblog.com
petiteblog.com
m4fblog.com

bought them while back, never did anything with them.

phonesex 02-11-2006 12:00 AM

OK, I'll start the bid. $1.00

KRL 02-11-2006 12:03 AM

Not even worth the registration fee.

Let it expire and move on . . . .

will76 02-11-2006 12:19 AM

there are a lot of fools out there like this guy, just go to ebay or afternic and you can see hundreds of idiots like this. I guess they see shit domains listed for thousands and they think, how hard is it to think of a shitty domain? so they buy a lot of shit and list if for $$$ and scratch their heads why it doesn't sell...

check out: http://www.afternic.com/namesbyc.php?c=4&

sexcos.com $4100
esexystore.com $5000
myrawpussy.com $500,000
netflixporn.net $750,000

These people need to be dragged out in the street and beaten.... i wouldn;t pay the registration fee for those names. I wouldn't take them for free.
