Best image compressor or optimizer?
I am having problems finding a really good image program that will strink the size of images with least amount of quality lose. What do you guys recommend?
Fireworks :thumbsup
I like the save for web option in photoshop. I've cut my images down quite a bit.. in some cases, up to 60% with no noticeable loss of quality. But for more intense images.. you can expect a 25% decrease in size without noticeable quality loss.

Image Optimizer
Fireworks for GIF, Photoshop for JPEG (just cause they have different scales of JPEG quality, and the one in Photoshop suits me better:)
PS all the way
i use super jpeg
edits a bunch of pics in seconds, gotta love it |
Paint Shop Pro!
Ulead SmartSaver Pro the best. I highly suggest this program.

Photoshop
I have to agree that Fireworks is the best. Ulead Smartsaver Pro is 2nd. Ulead moves faster but Fireworks has better quality.

I use the Xat optimizer if Adobe doesn't make me happy.
I must agree and saying Superjpg. Directories done in seconds and very good quality.
I have used a shitload off programs. But doing things in photoshop with the bach mode is tha shit !!!! :thumbsup
Notepad! :winkwink:
you can also go to dos prompt and use the *fdisk* command. best compression you will ever find (practically down to ZERO!) but fucks up the quality.

I think people are saying blah blah is the best but not for the same thing.
Doing "directories at a time" sounds like its more for thumbnails, but if you're talking graphical compression on if interfaces Fireworks and Photoshop, jpeg compression toss between Arles and PS for clear jpeg. Some are made for doing batch work for thumbs and then it seems some are used more for interfaces and single images. :winkwink: |

I agree :thumbsup I used to batch process in Photoshop but it didn't as nice a job as Arles at all. There are a bunch more features in Arles, it's very easy to use and my images are compressed much smaller with no loss of quality. And it's cheap too :) |

I didn't think of it that way but you're right, it all depends on what you're using it for. If it's for single images Photoshop and Fireworks are the best but if you're creating galleries it's Arles all the way. |
I use ACDSEE for .jpeg and Adobe ImageReady for .gif .

PHOTOSHOP
Photoshop is great for compression and resizing ect...
However, I have found the best tool to be: http://www.optiview.com It is a pay service but you get multiple comperessions and so much more in 1 click. It will even compress and entire web site right online. It is truly a great service. Anyone else use Optiview? Mitch |
