Not unless you want to get gunned down in a drug war.

Cancun or another country.

WiredGuy 02-11-2006 12:51 AM

Florida or Cancun is great for Spring Break.

I've heard radio ads here in FL announcing that Mardi Gras is going to be in full swing. :thumbsup

We will be at Mardi Gras for 5 days.

I expect security to be tight, and an extremely smaller crowd, but they are really going all out to put it on. Sad as it may be, you might able to move around a little better, instead of being packed like sardines, and we might be able to watch a little more of the parades.

New Orleans needs mardi gras to survive, they are depending on it.

We talked to a some of the locals while dealing hotels and beads, and they all say the same thing. If you want to help New Orleans, come and spend money. Everyones pretty vocal about the lack of support by fema and the red cross.

Anyone else going to Mardi Gras???

Recipe for figuring the date of Mardi Gras Day:

Start at Easter. As you know, the date of Easter can vary greatly.

Forty days prior to Easter (not counting Sundays) is Lent. The first day of Lent is Ash Wednesday.

The day before Ash Wednesday is Fat Tuesday ? Mardi Gras Day, which is the final day of the Mardi Gras season.

The official beginning of the Mardi Gras season is Jan 6, which is called Twelfth Night (12 days after Christmas). On that cold night, a krewe called Phunny Phorty Phellows has their drunken streetcar parade down St. Charles Ave.

Most of the big parades start two Fridays before Mardi Gras Day. From this point on, parades will happen everyday until Fat Tuesday.

OR if you are too lazy to figure out all that.....

Mardi Gras is something that I believe everyone should experience before your 25 cause its awesome! I went for my first year last year and it was amazing.

I dont know if I will be back this year, however I am going to be in New Orleans for Jazz Fest (May 1st).

Mardi Gras is not a single event at a single location. If you aren't having fun, it's your fault:upsidedow
