Windows XP Pro installation problems

I went out and bought 2 new machines and I bought Windows XP Pro for them. I'm a Windows 2000 pro user and figured it was time to try Windows XP Pro.

Of the dozen other machines I've buil and installed Win2Kpro on, I've never had a problem. Now that I got Win XPpro... I can't get it to install.

Everytime I try to install it I get countless errors saying "Setup Cannot copy the file: dvdplay.exe" I have the option to try again or skip. To try again I just hit Enter. After hitting Enter like 5 times it works (sometimes) and sometimes it doesn't.

10 seconds later I get another "can't copy" error. It just keeps happening until the whole fucking install goes into the blue screen of death.

Can anyone help?

Sounds strange and never ever had any problems here installing it on countless machines. Sure there is not a DVD or hardware issue?

make sure the CD isnt scratched... but you did say they were new. is this a burned copy or an OEM/Retail copy?

probably the disc is scratched or your cd rom having difficulties to read the cd.

check the surface , try cleaning it , if it's failes then copy the source of setup on HDD and install from there.

I had done like near 50 installations.

met that problem before, and get lucky to fix the problem everytime.

check:

1. cd/dvd rom
2. win xp install cd
3. hard drive cable
4. hard drive

good luck buddy!

Perhaps it's a faulty CD, it happens in pressing sometimes. Check to make sure you CD drive and HD cables are good - if not try returning it for another CD.

It actually failed my Windows 2Kpro disk first. I assumed it was because it was so worn out and scratched up. Also I just wanted to try Win XPpro. So I doubt it's a faulty Disk.

I'll check all the cables next I guess.

I could return it I guess, but it's fucking 1:00 am here, and I need this shit up and running 3 hours ago.

copy everything you can from cd to hd then someone of us (me for example) can send you files that are missing

happened to me a few times.
1. check your memory (take one out.. try the other one)
2. filesystem... (try installing on FAT and see, if it works. if it does try to delete partitions and create new NTFS partitions)

this could be the problem because Xp Pro works perfectly on NTFS partition.
