when all you know is domain name ?

http://www.betterwhois.com or any other whois lookup

look at the dns servers

whois.sc

look at nameservers

or do a tracert and the datacenter should give clues

http://whois.webhosting.info/gfy.com

webair.com only formfield on the opening page type in the domainname.com

and if they private labeld the nameservers, get the IP of the NSs and hit arin.net to find out who really owns the block...
