Did you donate to Ramos because he is a Mod?

Now let's get one thing straight. I aint slamming Ramos or any adult.com employee.

All I am asking is whether or not you donated to the cause to kiss his ass or not.

You really think guys like Eric would vouch for him just to get some money?

I donated coz Ramos is a great guy and he stuck his neck out to get me pass to the Play Boy Mansion even tho I shouldn't have got one.

Could care less if he's a great guy, I don't like the feeling of being pushed into doing something. Reminds me of the Tala / Tootie days. If he had posted and said "My shit blew up, anyone want to throw me a few bucks?" I would have. Instead we got the:

Friend: "Hey man, I know you didn't ask but is your epass BLAH77 so I can send you a few bucks?"

Victim: "No my epass is BLAH777, thanks every bit helps!"

Yeah it was kinda like a sheep rodeo in that thread...

TexasDreams 02-09-2006 02:33 PM

Donated because he's a friend and not just a co-worker. :thumbsup

It's not the first time I've pitched in to help someone out, and it's certainly not the last. :)

BradM 02-09-2006 03:10 PM

If it was a "loan" I would toss the guy a grand, I don't give a shit... people run into bad luck in life and that's just how it goes. I've been there and a couple guys from the industry bailed me out when I needed it most (JMan a few times). But just tossing the guy 20 bucks via epass and saying "CHEERS BRO buy a new car lol" is king of gay and hardly worth it. Matter of fact if I was receiving that kind of charity I'd feel pretty down about myself.

gfx3 02-09-2006 03:19 PM

Don't you people have insurance for when stuff like that happens? I'm sure this person has family and friends to crash for a few days, weeks untill the insurance company comes up with the money.

Last time I donated were "goods" because some guy had a fire in his house. He collected the same things as I do so I gave him some items from my collection. 2 months later he cashed in big time from his insurance company so he had the money to replace all damaged goods. From then I don't see the point donating money or goods since victims from a fire will get their money from the insurance company.
Still it's nice when people want to donate some cash, to help out. Everybody should make up his own mind about that.

biftek 02-09-2006 03:21 PM

insurance should take care of it

I didn't donate... don't get me wrong, he's a great guy and I wish him all the best in what is a really messed up situation.

But he's not exactly homeless. He's got a good job and he's doing well enough. These things make a person stronger.. force them to endure and be prepared for the next "just incase" scenario.

He'll be just fine with or without my $20/$50/$100... what ever.

Generally speaking (not about Ramos, but in general folks)... having people bail you out of every bad situation just makes things worse. It just teaches you that things "will work themselves out no matter what" when really, they won't.

Kevsh 02-09-2006 03:34 PM

Ramos is a great guy, period. I have no issue helping someone out in tough times and don't resort to second-guessing "he should have had insurance" blah blah blah. That's weak.

I personally didn't donate. I don't know ramos personally or anything, and he's not in a life or death situation... with childrens and everything you know ;) If I would have known him I'd certainly have donated some.

well said.

Brujah 02-09-2006 07:52 PM

I used to donate. I'd never donate on GFY again. Well maybe, if I knew the person and at least have spoken to them before once or twice. This allows me to donate more to local needs, and friends and family that may need it.

I didn't realize people were donating. Sucks about his place and all, but I think thats pretty funny people were donating him money. I would feel like the biggest schmuck taking somebody's money when I didn't really need it. I'm sure money is tight for him now, but that isn't exactly "needing".

Oh well, as long as everyone is happy, who cares. I'm not going to tell somebody when and when not to give their money to what they consider a worthy cause.

Oh, there are two great little things that can keep you out of trouble when emergency strikes... insurance and credit cards! Everyone should check into them if not already in possession!

I think that is more become is very exposed in this industry attm (with all good and bad that it brings) and is one of the faces you see everywhere.

hence people can somehow relate better or be more helpfull towards him ;)

HAPPYPEEKERS 02-09-2006 10:29 PM

We know him personally and he is such a good guy..

Our house burnt down 6 months ago and we lost everything.. except for the most important thing.. our 3 children :-)

It is a terrible situation to go through .. and that is why we donated.....

we wish him the best and hope to see him in Phoenix! :thumbsup :pimp

reynold 02-10-2006 12:11 AM

i think people will donate out of generosity and because ramos deserves that.

beemk 02-10-2006 01:23 PM

Ace_luffy 02-11-2006 11:22 PM
