I was checking them out a while ago, but i came to the conclusion they can fuck off, $50 set up fee? to add a username to a linux box? eat shit, theres piles of hosts out there that will bend over backwards for their clients. These fuckers want to start out the relationship by fucking you in the ass for $50 for two minutes of typing.

They are not set up for instant tech support. But for projects that can handle a 12-24 hour response, they are a cheap and friendly solution. I've had sites there since the late 90's.

How is there control panel? I am used to using cpanel on my other sites and like it very much. They have their own, I guess.

Yea i tried them once, they sold me a dedicated server that was actually a dedicated hard drive on one of their servers, they knew i needed root access and would not give it to me or i would have found out even more.

i had a hard time with them

If you know what the fuck you are doing do not use Dreamhost. Find another host that actually has tech support worth a damn. Real webmasters need r00t, they don't give it.

However if you are just looking to host a really simple site and don't think you will require any kind of advanced functions they are a decent deal because of their low prices.

I've had small websites for family hosted there... never had any major downtime for over a year. It's not the host you can count on 2 minutes reply, but normally you get a reply in 2-3 hours.

I wouldn't suggest a dedicated thought.

Very easy to navitage... takes an hour or two to get used to it.

that's how they afford the high commissions that gets everyone whoring out their service (see this thread)

they're okay and I have sites with them but nothing critical. 24 hours to get a support email response and no phone number is shit

all my important sites are elsewhere

it's custom and horrible in my opinion. lots of features but confusing to use
