Buyer wants my domain for $2k... What's the current market like?
Yesterday I got a email from a domain buyer less then 24hrs after listing some of my domains for sale on Sedo. I replied thinking it was the average buyer fishing for some cheap domains. It turns out the guy is taking the plunge into domain buying/selling with a budget of up to $50,000 per domain. Hope someone's got a life ring handy! Actually saw other domain sellers confirming large Paypal payments from him, so I know his offer is legit. The domain he wants to buy is...
xxxcuties.com In his original email he asked for a price. Without too much thought I replied telling him I would consider any offers over $2k. Little did I know he would bite and actually offer to pay more if a third party appraisal service valued it higher. :1orglaugh Yeah, most of us know these domain appraisal services are a joke, but if that's what he wants. My question to you is... What's the current adult domain market like these days??? With an offer of $2k for that domain would you take the money and run? I'm still holding onto a bunch of other good domains I bought years back, but had thought of using xxxcuties.com for a paysite someday. I don't really need the money but then again $2k is $2k. What do ya think??? |
Atleast charge him enough to get a new plasma
|
2k for that domain is high. Sell it!
|
You say he has confirmed payments but that old "hey I'll buy your domain if you get it appraised here" thing screams scam. Usually the people saying it own the appraisal service.

Get sedo to appraise it and see what they come up with, make sure you tell them you already have a 2k sale price though and im sure they'll appraise it at 10k+ LOL

now that I see this thread, I am no longer offering the 2k, thanks.

I also got on sedo recently and got an offer for $1000 on a domain. How do I check on the buyer with Sedo it doesn't seem to show me any info. on the bidder...

i agree take the money and run |

I've followed him around a few forums and he is legit. |
My saying is that a domain is only worth what someone will actually pay for it. If you have an offer of $2k, take it.

Take the 2K and then show him the rest of your list.
You can shear a sheep many times but you can only skin him once |
I would take the money and run

take it and run....... fast!

Yup take it and run. :)

$2K is ok. You could get more if he is already throwing that number at you.
I do certified appraisals that analyze about 30 different factors that impact the value. So if you need want let me know. |

xxxcuties.com is only good for a paysite owner, if he truly wants to name it "Xxx cuties" could be used also for a TGP , but noone would pay $2k for a tgp name anyway, he's a scammer, and if he's not, then just sell it for $2k safely via sedo or escrow.com btw DOMAIN APPRAISALS are worthless, no matter who makes them |
if he's willing to do the deal through sedo or escrow go for it
|
take it and run for your life!!

Got another offer this week, the guy sounded new and pointed me to a forum with 'suggestions' on appraisal services - is Sedo's service 'the best' of what's available? Thanks :) |

If you look at any daily drop list you would think people would pay for domains such as xlkdkgl2.com but they do. BTW- he's suggested doing the deal via escrow.com |
Looks like the major concensis is to take the money, and drop it like it's hot. Got to agree at this point.

If the email you recieved looked something like this it is a scam
------------------------------------------------ 2,500 USD. Ok. Do you offer a web site or domain name only? I'm mostly interested in names. Do you have a valuation or appraisal? I need an appraisal certificate for domain priced in your range. I consider your name as an investment. In other words I'm going to sell your name later and make a profit. If I overpay I won't be able to make a profit in the future. It's very important for you and me to know the current market value of your domain. Of course, we must be sure that you are engaging a reputable appraisal company. Please note that I don't trust free or cheap appraisals. To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies in a forum http://domaintalk.ourplace.com/Archive/36079.htm Juck check this posting. After I verify an appraisal from you we'll continue our negotiations. How do you prefer to get paid: www.PayPal.com, www.escrow.com, check or wire? Hope we can come to an agreement fast. --- They like to hit within a week after a new listing. |
Yup, I've gotten that e-mail too. They were offering me 5k for a worthless domain. I knew something wasn't right.
|
Also, I told them if they wanted the domain to make an offer on Sedo and they never did.

The second guy, sent me a similar email to the one you posted. More detailed about the domain and what he's going to use it for. The url is similar so..either it's some new 'ebook' on getting in on the domain market - or it's a 'domain appraisal' scam. Oh well 1 out of 2 ain't bad |
no way is that domain worth anything even close to 2K
S C A M |
That is a good domain, so no need to run. But I would tell him that you got a 2500 offer, and see if he will go to 3k.
|
hey. can you give me the buyers e-mail or contact info? i have a domain he might be interested in and if he buys i'll give you a commission.
thanks |
