grumpy 02-08-2006 06:29 AM

they are demolition the ship. They just put it back in the water to let it sink. So the picture is not what it seems like.

res 02-08-2006 07:05 AM

seeric 02-08-2006 07:11 AM

watch the national geographic channel and see the u.s.s. ronald reagan show. when they go to sea trials they get it up to 35mph and go hard right and the ship looks like its gonna touch the left side to the water. insane!

Matt 26z 02-08-2006 07:11 AM

They are testing it out before putting it into use. They do a hard turn to make sure the ship holds up.

I saw that. Pretty wicked. No, the ship is not sinking.

Kevsh 02-08-2006 07:17 AM

Looks like fun, now if they only did it at night when the crew was down below sleeping .... I bet some wise-ass captain has done it haha

I wouldnt want to be on a huge aircraft carrier full of Jet Fuel, Bombs, Ammo all of it sitting on top of a nuclear reactor while the captain fucks around like that :P

Honestly ... WOW!!!

Antonio 02-08-2006 09:05 AM

told them not to make Schumacher a captain but do they listen to me...

Stallion 02-08-2006 09:06 AM

I can imagine the sailors inside are holding onto for dear life.. lol

SilentKnight 02-08-2006 09:28 AM

Buy the fighter pilot a case of Jack Daniel if he can land his bird with the carrier in the hardover position.

Lance69 02-08-2006 10:14 AM

Carrier's go much faster than anyone may think. And turn's like that are a good way for the Captain to make sure the crew has "secured for sea!":thumbsup

Tricksy 02-08-2006 10:14 AM

It looks real! Nice pic.

NoWhErE 02-08-2006 10:28 AM

Its Real!

I spent a long time on ships, and thats a pretty steep turn, but I've been through one before. Basically, everything that isn't bolted down goes flying, but the boat stays afloat.

I remember, after going through that turn, for the next 2 weeks or so, I'd see people walking around with t-shirts on which was printed : "I survived The Manoeuvre!" lol, it was pretty funny

Denis_SC 02-08-2006 10:37 AM

I wonder if it can do donuts ? :stoned

GlydeGirl 02-08-2006 10:48 AM

Listing to the left... perfectly normal!

I will bet you that NO wise ass captain has done it on purpose. that thing during regular use will be loaded with millions of pounds of weapons and aircraft, and no captain is going to risk that. And even if he did it during trials, he would have his ass hended to him if anyone was hurt, or something went wrong.

fetishblog 02-08-2006 01:10 PM

Speaking of Aircraft Carriers, I found a page that shows their deployment status and other info. Pretty cool.

PAR 02-09-2006 12:06 AM

So thats what the Caption of the Exxon is doing now...

kostas 02-09-2006 12:19 AM

Yes it seems real. As you can see the deck is empty, and i guess is on test.
Normally that movement is dangerous. 35 miles/hour is enough speed for this.

KRL 02-09-2006 12:28 AM

Every aircraft carrier goes through 4 days of "sea trials" before its declared certified by the US Navy. Usually about 500 engineers from the builder are on board with the crew to put the ship through its paces and find any defects or malfunctions.

That is a real pic when they are putting it through hard to port and hard to starboard high speed turns.

Here's a view from on the ship during the turn.
