Willpower Exercises - A Key To Success!
Ok, I know that it's off topic, but GFY knows it all, this is why I like this place :thumbsup
So, here's the story: Recently, I've discovered that I don't achieve a lot in life because of my low low low willpower level. My studies, work, all life would be much more attractive if I would put more efforts into it. Possible solution: Exercises for willpower. This is what I'll do and tommorow I will take a few little steps for gaining ultra willpower. That means, that tommorow I won't smoke, will work actively for 3 hours and study sincerely for 2 hours. That's all! Sounds easy right? Have you tried anything like this? Please share your experiences with me. :thumbsup |
Willpower is the ability to kick your own ass into doing the things YOU need to get done. It's like being your own parent.
The best way to make positive changes is to think of all the reasons why you want to get the things done so that when your brain wants to fuck around instead, you bring up the list of reasons that doing the job at hand is actually a much better way to spend your time. After all, when you spend 3 hours working, that is 3 hours of work that doesn't need to be done tomorrow, AND you even buy yourself time off for the future. Also, a reason people tend to fuck around is the interia principle... a person who is fucking around tends to keep fucking around, while a person who works steadily tends to keep working steadily. Sure, it's tough at first to change from a lazy ass into a responsible working person, but the rewards are definitely there -- more money, the satisfaction of a job completed, and free time later on. The key is that you just have to keep kicking your own ass everytime your lazy self wants you to quit working on your future. Kick your ass, kick your ass, kick your ass! |
hey - that dog has a puffy tail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the beginning, make sure you set attainable goals. To kick start yourself from the state of inertia to a state of steady activity, don't set yourself up for failure.

Thanks! Very good advice.

Please keep sharing your experiences about improving your self-control or willpower. This is very important for me and I want to hear as much as possible about it. :thumbsup

its just a matter of learning how to motivate yourself. you may not be able to change the situation, but you can adopt a more positive outlook towards the things around you.

I always look for one reason for me to go on and keep hanging...and for all I know I have made it

Don't give up though the pace is slow,
you may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out, the silver tint of the clouds of doubt and you can never tell how close you are, it may be near when it seems so far. |

I have a checklist of tasks I have to do every day, and then blank lines at the bottom of the list. That way I can check off each thing as it's done, and add new ones as they come up. If it's noon and I still have a billion things on the list, I can prioritize better since I see them all right in front of me. Every little bit helps.

ill give this a try!!!

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.
- Vince Lombardi |
I totally agree that willpower is the key to success... or at least to a good life. There are other factors, but people that rely too much on their intellect generally fail.
