No more LAPD car chases
will be interesting to see how it works out.
pretty good idea if you ask me... could help save the lives of some innocent people that get caught in the middle of these high speed chases and i'm sure it will allow them to pursue by helicopter a hell of a lot easier
Bratton, who often calls the city the car chase capital of the world, was asked why there are so many pursuits in Los Angeles: "There are a lot of nuts here," he said.
So what's to stop them from getting out of the car and pulling it off?
Stupid idea. The bad guys could just pull over and kick the GPS ball off the back of the car.
Great idea!
haha, that is awesome
and when the guys get out and run.. the sticky ball is going to... jump off and grab them?
dude....great if its a super adhesive....it is problyt just the size of a golf ball but when it hits it should spread and stick....
if it works, about time we use the technology for something useful |
:1orglaugh :1orglaugh wtf . thats crazy

it will be useful in some cases |
bad idea, they'll just jack another car. it's not rocket science.
Its like the the cops will have no damn clue where the guys are people. They will be close enough to them to nab them if they stop to take off the device or switch cars.
LA without car chases???
wtf is the world coming to? |
Did anyone warn OJ?

Well I doubt they're just going to fire the damn thing and call it a day...
They just won't have to pursue him at a dangerous 70-80 mph. All they have to do is keep following him at a reasonable pace until he eventually stops or crosses into a police Heavy zone. The ball is designed to avoid innocent bystanders being killed by car chases. If the police aren't following him at high speeds, the runaway won't have to go so fast, thus less danger. But the whole game remains the same as any car chase... they wait for him to make a stupid move/blow his tires with spike tracks or wait for him to completely stop. |
read people! they dont have to chase them with HIGH SPEED - they still be chasing them just not bumper to bumper.
Good car chases kill innocent people. And they usually start because someones had a few drinks, or an outstanding warrant for unpaid tickets.

The other day I was watching the news and there was a car chase in or near Temecula/Lake Elsinore and then it ended and minutes later one began up closer to L.A. It's a great idea. A lot safer for the cops, suspect and the rest of the public. They will still follow the vehicle, just at a much better distance. I'm sure they will continue to follow with the helicopter just as much as they do now. |
looks like a good idea that may save some lives.
good idea

I thought thats why they had helicopters. To follow the car without having to tail them in a car at high speed.

its should come with an explosive which will detonate if you attempt to detach it

They'll obviously block all the roads near and keep police officers all arround... I think the point is pretty much getting them to stop so they can nab them |
I would love to see a demo of that
