My email client was deleting emails from my registrar for a few months and I just didn't notice a few expiring. Lost some damn good domains. FUCK that pissed me off.

Yep. I think for many its due to e-mail issues. Especially with adult domains, some filters in your e-mail client or your ISP's system will toss the mails right into the trash bin or never deliver them to you. Also when you accumulate a lot of them, with many registrars, its a bitch, to keep track of everything.

I lost a .ca once because Internic is retarded.

Nope.. I've got a database of all my domains.. And a program that regularly goes out and checks that the details haven't changed (to ensure no one steals them) and it emails/logs when it's time to register or if something changes.

I log into my registers about once a month, check the dates and renew the ones expriring within a couple of months.

If you don't keep track of your domains tendency is you will really lost it. And some one else would still your idea.
