i am going trough all my old VHS and Hi8 tapes
whats the best way to move them to DVD ? |

Last fall we bought a Panasonic dmr-e60 dvd burner for doin' that. We can plug anything in to it via the rca/phono inputs for recording off 8mm, VHS, camcorder, etc. - also has a coaxial input for cable so we can record live TV.
And as a bonus has card slots for CF and SM. http://www.codefreedvd.com/dvd_panasonicdmre60us.htm |
If you want a trouble-free solution look into this Pinnacle product:

I was wondering about that, too. Thanks for this thread. I learned a lot. Hope more posts will come.

I bought myself for the same purpose, a Dazzle DVD recorder, one of those DVC, it also includes a Pinnacle software for editing, but the resulting quality is not as great as a DVD or even a VHS, and the max. I could get was SVCD (medium) quality. But it's ok however, now I have my tapes on DVDs, and I;m sure they will last many more years than a magnetic VHS tape.
