can I use my laptop in the beach?

I am going to a nice beach hotel and would like to be carrying my laptop to the beach but not exposing it to the sun.
Will the "sea air" damage the components of the laptop?
thanks! :helpme

Unless you have a ruggedized laptop that would NOT be a good idea.

C_U_Next_Tuesday 02-04-2006 11:53 AM

sand and sea salt..bad idea..very bad idea.

hmmwv 02-04-2006 11:58 AM

and you canīt really see much, as the sun is reflecting on the screen. at least thatīs the case with mine when i go outside...

Its the first time I ever heard that term "ruggedized". Its too late to buy one, already baught my fujitsu-siemens :Oh crap
The problem is I also live near the beach, a ruggedized laptop it would be very helpful to me...
thanks for the help!

not a good idea at all... the sand alone would destroy it

Adultlexicon 02-04-2006 12:01 PM

how do you get in the beach ?

pornguy 02-04-2006 12:02 PM

Nope not a good idea at all. I live 2 blocks from the beach, and the rust here is amazing beacuse of the salty air.

keep it inside!

dissipate 02-04-2006 12:49 PM

sand + laptop = bad

C_U_Next_Tuesday 02-04-2006 01:08 PM

Why take a lap top to the beach anyhows.. The beach is too relaxing for work..take a camera instead

divinity 02-04-2006 01:24 PM

if you're on vacation, leave the laptop in the hotel room.

ffmihai 02-04-2006 02:05 PM

work in the hotel room yo!

Sosa 02-04-2006 02:28 PM

yeah, just sit your laptop on the fucking sand or let sand/water get blown on it. Nothing will happen!

OzMan 02-04-2006 02:30 PM

Assuming you have travel insurance, bring your laptop to the beach and then leave it on your towel and go for a swim/walk for an hour. It will be stolen, then with your claim money you can buy a water/sand/drop/salt/acid/lava proof one for the next trip. :thumbsup

tgpmakers 02-04-2006 02:32 PM

Ya man I live on a boat and trust me laptops on the beach will not be a good idea BUT if you want to do it for experience go and do it hahahahahaha

p.s. backup first though

Morgan 02-04-2006 02:33 PM

dont put it in the water.

even if you're as safe as possible with it, you still wont be able to see it due to the sun.

SmokeyTheBear 02-04-2006 03:01 PM

buncha pussies in here :) heh

I take my laptop down to the beach all the time, its a tad hard to see when its sunny , i suggest a sun shade, but tother than that you shoud be ok just watch the sand and water

Cory W 02-04-2006 03:03 PM

You can take it in the water, most of them will float.

adonthenet 02-04-2006 03:06 PM

You actually cant be without your laptop for cuple hours?!
save it inside.. and SAVE your laptop :)

fuzebox 02-04-2006 03:10 PM

Sand has a habit of getting in everything...

Whenever I try to work on a patio or pool deck the sun glare makes it impossible anyway.

aico 02-04-2006 03:11 PM

From what I've seen, as long as you are drinking some Coronas, nothing bad can happen.

as what they have said, save your laptop, don't work outside, do it inside a room.
