Joe Vs Volcano & Cast Away

Anybody else think Joe Vs Volcano was a poorly written first edition of Cast Away?

My money is that Tom Hanks got so big for his britches that he didn't want a costar in the updated release

I thought Castaway was a pile of shit. Can't remember much about Joe vs the Volcano other than that it was pretty stupid as well.

cast away seemed like a movie a 10 year old could write. didn't see that other movie

The movie started out ok with the whole successful love story than it went to a guy talking to a volleyball. Hello, MacFly....who talks to a volleyball named wilson. I'd rather go to a Backstreet Boys concert than waste my time watching that again.

Hey Joe Blow - You going to start a rant about how Robert Zemeckis is just another stupid hack director?
I liked Cast Away AND I liked Joe Vs. The Volcano.
Similar settings but very different movies.

Must really suck not being able to simply enjoy a movie because you are too busy overanalyzing and deconstructing it as you watch it.

I'm a big fan of movies but seemed to of missed "Joe VS Volacano"

CastAway was ok, not a film I would watch more then once.
Fun the first time, but no replay or re-watch value.

If you was on a island, with nothing but a ball. 10:1 says you would talk to it.

Zebra 04-17-2002 10:34 AM

Based on some of the shit I have seen here, odds are 10:1 that any GFY'er stuck on an island with a volleyball would find a way to fuck it too!

Volcano Joe was a fitting movie for Toms caliber at the time. Silly and shallow.

Cast Away however was anything but worth watching.
Something Tom should have never ever done after some extraordinary performances which earned him the highest recognition.

My :2 cents:

Are you sure you've seen both of those movies? They are not alike.

The last 25 minutes of Cast-Away are actually pretty good.

But yea, the rest of it sucked.

I flipped on the TV yesterday and Joe vs the Volcano was on. It was mid way through ....

they were floating at sea on four suitcases that they had fastened together to make a raft. yada yada yada tries to kill himself by jumping off cliff (in this case into a volcano). yada yada yada they end up back in the ocean trying to drift home aboard the same suitcase raft.

sorry wat - haven't seen the whole flick. but I saw some humorous parallels

Zebra 04-17-2002 02:34 PM

That suitcase rocked.. Everyone should have one of those.. never know when your boat is gonna sink :)
