I used to really enjoy smoking. I could care less what others thought about it. I quit smoking because I didn't want to continue to suffer the negative healh aspects (hard to doing aerobic exercise, etc) and ultimately it wasn't worth dying for.

I exercise everyday and watch what I eat and I'm getting pretty close to being back in shape. I do this again for my health but I'll admit wanting to look good is part of it too.

Now I can see comparing someone who has slimmed down to an ex smoker, but comparing someone who is currently very overweight to one? You know where the term "morbidly obese" implies? Analyze the root words.

If you're currently a smoker or currently overweight, the question you should be asking yourself is not "do I care what others think of the way I look?" but rather "what is it about me that makes me not care about my own health and future?".

no. I was sort of joking with Brad. As we all know, Brad used to be much larger than he is now. It is good thing that he lost the weight and I am in no way playing that down. My comment was a reference to Brad posting the kind of thread that could have been posted about him not all that long ago.

The only connection I would make if we are having a real debated (and seriously I didn't come here for that) is that for some their weight problem is due to an addiction to food such as smoking is an addiction. The only diference being that you can't go cold turkey on food. I'm a big person and amongsy other things I have a constant battle because due to a condition I have that causes weight gain I am also on medications for that that have the side effect of weight gain. I go to the gym three mornings a week just to stop myself gaining weight from the medications alone.

Anyway, no, I wasn't coming into this thread for the fat debate.
