So I finally dump Norton...

and i lose an adblocker that actually works, a a popup blocker that functions logically. and 10x more spam makes it's way into my inbox..

last fucking time I buy any gfy suggested software ...
I shoulda know better with all the Firefox (garbage) love that goes on.

good thing i paid for the 3 machine licence too..

on the upside, my windows boots a little faster.

Kaspersky works nice

Sosa 02-01-2006 11:34 AM

heh you are like the only person I know that is happy with Norton. Norton products fucking suck ass and make your pc run slow as fuck.

Babagirls 02-01-2006 11:36 AM

i have both Webroot Spysweeper and Trend Micro PC-cillin and both work great. from scanning my incoming email to pop up blockers to spy/adware blocking and removal...they work good.

The Truth Hurts 02-01-2006 11:39 AM

I've never had any slowness issues on either of the three machines I've got it on (well two now).. on top of that, I've never had a virus on any of them..

I just let the bashing norton posts get to me..

What did you replace Norton with?

I use Norton AV on my main computer and don't have any problems. I did however have to remove Norton Internet Security suite from my neighbors new laptop. It ran noticeably better without it. I put Kaspersky AV on and activated the WindowsXP firewall.

I run Kaspersky firewall on one of my computers, but I never really know how good of a job firewalls are really doing. I just use it for the program permissions.

fyi...

PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 Home Security Pack (3-user license) is what I bought.

The Truth Hurts 02-01-2006 11:46 AM

and i'm about to put in a refund request.

:1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh I did the same thing almost a year ago.. and it's a piece of crap... it's got to be the worst piece of software ever written next to Microcrap... The problem though is that I can't get it completely off my system to put Norton back on... So I'm fucked unless I do a complete wipe. Maybe I should just buy a new computer..

kaspersky pro av with zone alarm firewall and ewidow (mal/spyware) does the job nice

butterflybucks 02-01-2006 11:57 AM

Last time I checked, he's still in Santa Monica. I used to work there back when it was still "Peter Norton Computing, Inc." and his office was right across the hall from me. We'd all come in wearing shorts & tank tops and shit... Real laid back. It got lame after Symantec took over though.
