When someone says "I need time to figure things out"
It can mean a lot of things but it usually means that they are done with you and ready for someone else.
Some possible meanings: I've cheated on you. I no longer find you attracted. I have an opportunity to date someone a whole lot better than you. I am shallow and have no idea what I'm talking about, but will regret this decision in the future when the person I'm leaving you for, leaves me. You've gained a lot of weight and disgust me, a hotter person said they like me. |
for me, its only been 2 reasons for me sayin that to a dude.
1) i wanna see if theres someone else better than you out there, if not, i'll be back. but chances are that i'll find someone else better so heres your warning that you should start hunting for a new chick. or 2) dude...i cheated on you...with someone that can tear it out the frame..and you're not 'all that' in bed...but i like everything else about you...hmmm should i leave for better sex or stay with you cuz you have a killer personality and alot of good things goin on for yourself...lemme think about this, i'll let ya know. |
The only proper response to "I need time to figure things out" is:
"Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out". |

Yep, I'm not one to fight someone if they want to go.
To me the second that you threaten a relationship by questioning it or intending to walk away, don't even bother explaining, just go and don't call or write. |

Means they're gay and trying to figure out whether to come out of the closet or not.

I feel sorry for that poor bastard :Oh crap :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :pimp |
What did you say to her before she said that?
|
Well it also depends on the situation at hand. Let's say the girl desperately wants kids, and you absolutely don't want any. She needs to think if she is ready to let that important thing go for 'you'. However, the moment people start walking out the door, and the yo-yo effect kicks in - every discussion/argument they leave....it's best to suffer now and get it over with.

I pick number 1.

It means leave me the fuck alone before I have to use "The Enforcer"

I need time to figure things out.....
I need time to fuck someone else, and if it doesnt go well, I might be back. |
so damn true
|
it can mean all of these things or it can mean...
'oh shit, I am freaking out because I may actually be falling for you and that scares the shit out of me" and needing time is an excuse to run away from the reality that things are heavy and that they can actually 'be the one' which hits you like a mack truck. |

really, shit like that happens?? I mean, I know a couple who set a date for marriage, he wanted to move the wedding up until spring, she wanted to get married NOW. So she left him. He wanted her back, so they flew out to Vegas and got hitched a couple months ago. |
I think typically it's used when someone doesn't want to say something that would hurt the other person.
It's a cop out that most of us use. |

I say if she's willing to leave me so easily & quickly I don't wanna be with her anyway. That's, of course, before I show her "The Enforcer" :p |
It simply means that the relationship is no longer working.. Chances are, that would be the end of another love story. :(
