Looks more like an MLM thing to me. So the guy scammed a bunch of people, wife probably found out and threatened to tell, and he did away with them both.

What's more vital to the story is how the police visited the house Saturday morning, checked the bedroom, and didn't notice 2 dead bodies in the bedroom. The woman's mother went to the house Saturday night and didn't find a dead body. Sunday night the police checked again after they noticed a strange odor and found both bodies.

Had to be dead a day or so for there to be an odor. How do you overlook 2 blood-soaked bodies in a bed?
