For a members area, I use XTract Management System from ECoders.biz - http://ecoders.biz/

For any other needs I use and modify Postnuke to suit my needs.

Wordpress is pretty powerful, and can be customized for almost anything.

If you meant you don't want to do TONS of customizing, well that would be dumb. But the whole point of a CMS is for you to be able to handle your content with ease...by setting it up right the first time there would be no more customizing to do...
