Depending on the server software you're using, subdomains won't always work. It's the next logical thing to try...

Use the product from gossamer threads... My friend used it to create http://www.pornlaunch.com and he's be incredibly satisfied for over a year. There are alot of cool plug-ins that you can use to manage your traffic, etc.

We use Links SQL from Gossamer Threads to run our SE database on Sexplex. In addition I have used the script on some project or another for at least a few years and it has always been stable, easy to configure, and it has a great admin. Let me know if there is anything you get stuck with on the setup. I know the Links software like the back of my hand.
