___Despite the Rumors who here is still reading A million Little Pieces?___

I don't read books that often but this book was recomended by a freind before all the drama and I must admit its a good book so far.

Who cares how real some of it is?

The reason I enjoyed Blair Witch Project so much was cause I went in thiking it was readl footage and was scared shitless.

I admit on on page 100 and haven'tt finished it yet.

Good read. Who else is reading it?

Once I got to the dentist part I just couldn't read anymore when it's obviously bullshit. I just can't feel sorry for someone who is so spoiled and just throws it all away and then tries to make himself sound like a badass.

I'd like to see how he would handle an alternative life without rich parents, or perhaps with no parents at all.

I think we should save our sympathy and time for those who deserve it. Those who are doomed to an existence like this one rather than those who glamourize (sp?) it... :2 cents:

Are you a member of Oprah's book club?

That part i can only read once. I never thought I could get creeped out by a book.

Its fiction who cares if its real. Read the rest.

He was outed on Oprah the other day.....personally, if the book is a good read, I don't care. But he did tout this book as autobiographical and true when it wasn't. Looks like both of them have egg on their collective faces.

If the book is good, though, enjoy it.

Jace 01-27-2006 03:14 PM

he was oprah the other day...it isn't rumors, he admitted to fabricating some stuff

but all in all, who really cares that much...a good story is a good story

another thing I brought up to my wife is

anyone that bought a book that a DRUG ADDICT wrote, and didn't expect some parts to be made up, is a fucking moron...I know I had drug addict says and I made a lot of shit up in the following years

that is like asking a crack head to write a book and expecting the truth

It's not marketed as fiction..

i don't know - even as fiction i just cannot endure a book that has a character who has all these opportunities a lot of people don't have and just acts like a spolied little bitch. And then to top it all off he's got some sort of inferiority complex and has to make himself out as the alpha male in every situation.

Fuck James Frey and fuck his whining.

It's a real dichotomy for me, because burning a book is like the highest act of heresy for me, and yet that's all I want to do with this thing.

Thanks Jace for your comments. I dont care its it's all real. Good points!

davethetruth 01-27-2006 04:14 PM

I still plan to read it even though it's made up.

DaddyHalbucks 01-27-2006 04:14 PM

The publicity won't hurt it.

All publicity is good publicity.

They will sell a tons of the books.

Turtle 01-27-2006 04:14 PM

I bought the book. Haven't started reading it yet. Gotta finish like a few others first :)

That was what made the whole thing a huge deal. I know you're just covering man, fess up!

Monique Niccole 01-27-2006 04:58 PM

I picked it up about a week ago along with "Love in the Time of Cholera" and "Brave New World". It's just a book. Enjoy it as that and don't expect it to move mountains. Oprah and everyone else are making way too much of this.

SmokeyTheBear 01-27-2006 05:21 PM

any interesting "memoir" is 50% bullshit anyways. This whole "drama" is for 2 reasons . #1 theres no interesting news right now #2 they didnt pay oprah her "cut"

not true , he says he brought the book to the publisher as a "FICTION" , they decided to market it as "memoirs", im sure oprah knew as well. The whole thing was about money , and oprah not getting her "cut"

Oprah could tell everyone to buy humpty dumpty and they would, she plans it wel ahead of time so she profits off every book she recommends.. and if she isnt getting her cut, oprah pulls out her other face and drops it like t was hot.
